Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust

About

Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust provides a comprehensive range of acute hospital-based health services to residents of Maidstone, Tunbridge Wells, and surrounding areas such as Tonbridge, Sevenoaks, and parts of north-east Sussex. The Trust offers specialist services, including Oncology and Ophthalmology, across a wider region. Fordcombe Hospital, located near Tunbridge Wells, became part of the Trust in October 2024, focusing on planned care with two operating theatres, 28 inpatient and day care beds, and diagnostic services such as X-ray, MRI, CT, and endoscopy, alongside consultation and treatment rooms.

At MTW, we are committed to fostering a culture that allows staff to reach their full potential, offering career growth and development opportunities. We value the unique contributions of each employee in delivering the highest quality care to our patients. As a diverse employer, we actively welcome individuals from varied backgrounds and perspectives, believing that this diversity strengthens our organisation.

The NHS offers over 350 different career paths, with roles ranging from direct patient care to vital support services. The Trust provides flexible shift patterns and operates a successful Staff Bank for ad-hoc paid shifts. We also offer volunteer opportunities, and all vacancies are advertised on our website, where applications must be submitted online. In the 2023 NHS staff survey, our employees voted us the second most recommended NHS Trust in the South East.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and protecting children and vulnerable adults, and appropriate pre-employment checks are conducted on all recruits in order to comply with Safeguarding requirements.

As a user of the 'two ticks' symbol (positive about disabled people), we are committed to employing disabled people, and disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the vacancy they apply for will be invited to attend interview and considered on their skills and abilities. If you are shortlisted for interview, our invitation will ask you to let us know if you require any reasonable adjustments for your interview, - please do ensure that you advise us if this is the case, as we are keen to facilitate your request and ensure that your interview with Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a positive experience.

In the NHS, we are reminded every day of how important life is. As a flexible-working friendly organisation, we want to be sure that you can work in a way that is best for us, for our patients and for you. Speak to us about how we might be able to accommodate a flexible working arrangement which will not mean sacrificing time for personal interests or family commitments. We aim to support you to work flexibly in a way that will suit you and us.
