Are you dynamic, highly motivated and committed to improving patient outcomes and experience? Theatres & Elective In- Reach (TEIR) CSU at MRI are looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic senior nurse or operating department practitioner to join our senior leadership team as the Matron of MRI theatres.
Working within the framework of the Modern Matron principles, your role is key to ensure clinical quality standards are achieved by providing inspirational and visible clinical leadership to the theatre team working within MRI theatres.
The role of Matron is intrinsic to the success of the patient care pathway in influencing and working with the multidisciplinary clinical teams and leading the highly skilled nursing teams to provide high quality care for our patients.
You will need to be flexible, driven and passionate about the delivery of innovative safe patient focused care. To carry out this challenging role you must have proven current management and leadership experience at band 7 or above within the acute hospital setting and be able to demonstrate ability to implement effective change.
You will also need strong interpersonal, negotiation and decision making skills with the ability to challenge personnel and advanced nursing practice.

- Delivery of excellence in patient care, embedding a culture of continuous quality improvement, and maximising the nursing contribution to improve patient outcomes and enhance patient and service user experience are key priorities for this role.
- The post holder will provide clinical and professional leadership and line management to the clinical teams within TEIR. Reporting to the HoN for TEIR the post holder will ensure the key functions of the matron are undertaken for the CSU.
- Demonstrate effective leadership, setting, monitoring and maintaining professional standards, working collaborative, manage complaints and lead the nursing contribution for clinical governance at a specialty/department level in line with the Nursing & Midwifery Strategy.
- Be an integral member of the senior leadership team, providing nursing advice, manage specialty nursing teams, have delegated budgetary responsibility and contribute to innovative solutions to workforce & capacity management.
- Take responsibility for human and financial resources, contributing to key performance outcomes within the directorate.
- Act in accordance to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
- Have a responsibility to ensure all information processed for patients and staff is kept confidential, accurate and in line with the Data Protection Act 1998 and Caldecott Policy.
