Job overview
THIS POST IS SECONDMENT FOR 16 MONTHS DUE TO FUNDING
Strategic Clinical Networks are an essential national vehicle for joint working between key stakeholders including NHS Wales, Welsh Government and the third sector to improve the outcomes and experience for the population of Wales. Integral to this is the need for continuous improvement and transformational change across a range of our services and approaches and the role of the Strategic Clinical Network is to support this at national, regional and local levels.
This role provides an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual to support the national delivery of the National Strategic Clinical Network for Gastrointestinal Conditions.
The National AHP Lead for Liver Disease will be expected:
- To provide professional and strategic leadership to the Network within their own area of expertise.
- To provide strategic and clinical guidance and advice to the Network and other associated Networks on the role and direction of the Liver Disease Implementation Network.
- To communicate the vision around future service provision of Liver Disease in a way which motivates the clinical community based on improving outcomes within a value-based context from national policy through to local delivery level.
- To inspire colleagues to innovate and problem solve acting in the best interests of the population and take collective responsibility for decision making.
Advert
- To provide clinical leadership to, and on behalf of, the Liver Disease Implementation Network
- To foster a culture of multi-professional engagement in the improvement of care across integrated pathways for patients with Liver Disease. This will include ensuring AHP colleagues are fully committed to the delivery of ambitious programmes of pathway redesign and quality improvement.
- To ensure involvement, influence and distributed leadership is promoted and available across the care system.
- To maintain credibility with all key players within the Liver Disease community, fostering a culture of collaboration for the delivery of equitable, high quality care across all sectors. At times this will include acting as an ‘honest broker’ reconciling conflicting views and interests.
- To understand, communicate and support the implementation of clinical policy relating to the National Strategic Clinical Network for Gastrointestinal Conditions and Liver Disease Implementation Network (including Quality Statement, NICE Quality Standards and Outcome Strategies).
- To promote a culture of innovation, developing and maturing strong partnerships across the Liver Disease landscape.

The post holder will work within the National Strategic Clinical Network for Gastrointestinal Conditions as part of the Liver Disease Implementation Network, alongside the Liver Disease Clinical Lead, Network Manager and core team to develop models of care closer to home, ensuring pathways are implemented to deliver a consistent integrated delivery of care at the point of need.
