We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Midwife to join the Bronglais core team. Working on Gwenllian ward with a dedicated team of Midwives and Obstetricians to provide high quality, safe care to all that access the unit. You will support and sustain the unique service provided in the small obstetric unit.
A midwife is responsible for their own practice and therefore the post holder will be expected to maintain a high standard of professional expertise and to ensure that the highest standard of midwifery care is given during the antenatal period.
Our maternity service is continually changing and evolving to meet the needs of the population and ensure women and their families have a positive birthing experience. We are a very friendly and supportive team who welcome innovative ways of working and new ideas.

Advert
You will be required to:
Provide professional leadership and mentoring to less experienced midwives and support to colleagues in a multi-disciplinary team.
Provide care to a defined group of women, and their families in the obstetric unit.
Co-operate and liaise with all members of staff, the primary health care team, the medical and midwifery staff within the health board and endeavour to foster team spirit and ensure continuity of care.
Provide information to the expectant mother to enable her to make an informed choice about the place and mode of delivery and services available.
Provide advice on Public Health issues, e.g. smoking cessation and breast feeding promotion. Care for, and counsel the parents and relatives of babies born with abnormalities or who have been bereaved.
Be responsible for working in partnership with the woman and her family ensuring they are the primary focus of their practice.
Keep contemporaneous, detailed records in line with NMC standards and HDUHB record keeping guidelines. Including detailed records of observations made, care given and medicines administered to a woman or baby.
Midwives have a statutory duty of responsibility to abide by the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Professional standards of practice and behaviour, and the Controlled Drugs Regulations.
