We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Occupational Therapist to work within the Adult Occupational Therapy Service within the Bromley borough community. The postholder will provide a range of occupational therapy assessment and treatment interventions to service users in their own homes and residential care settings.
The post holder will provide a specialist occupational therapy service for complex cases, formulating and implementing intervention plans aimed at reducing the impact of disability and ill health.
You will be offered regular supervision, support and training from experienced professionals with the service and organisation in order to ensure your competencies, CPD and career are progressed within the role.

This post is as an Occupational Therapist within the Adult Occupational Therapy Service - providing a range of occupational therapy treatment interventions delivered to service users (clients) in their own homes and residential care settings.
As an Occupational Therapist the post will provide a specialist occupational therapy service for complex cases, formulating and implementing intervention plans aimed at reducing the impact of disability and ill health.
As an autonomous practitioner, to be responsible for enabling the client to achieve and maintain a level of independent functioning in order to remain at home or the most appropriate alternative community setting.
To apply a high level of understanding of the effect of disability and provide training and advice on lifestyle changes and adaptations to the clients’ social and physical environment.
To identify and develop own area of specialism and expertise, and contribute to the resource base within the Occupational Therapy Service and other professional groups.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To independently manage a caseload of clients with complex needs.
To provide and contribute to the development of an effective Occupational Therapy Service by demonstration of clinical reasoning through assessment and management of patients referred to the service ensuring a high professional standard of care.
To perform occupational analysis and risk evaluation leading to the formulation of intervention options which reduce the consequence of disability and optimise the service user’s functional ability and independence.
To use a range of standardised and non standardised assessment tools and techniques to identify presenting strengths and difficulties.
To refine treatment techniques in line with most recent evidence of clinical effectiveness by evaluating and implementing key developments and promoting discussion within the Occupational Therapy Service.
To devise occupational therapy programmes which may be implemented and supported by other members of the multidisciplinary team.
To fulfil legal requirements and demonstrate clinical reasoning within documentation.
To actively ensure the implementation of and adherence to issues associated with clinical governance, policies and procedures of Bromley Healthcare and the Standards of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists.
To use a client centred goal focussed approach using a range of specialist treatment interventions, and to continually evaluate these in order to determine further needs.
To offer assessment, advice and recommendations to clients, carers and/or other professionals regarding specialist Occupational Therapy equipment for the promotion of independence and safety. To instruct clients and their carers in the safe use of this and either arrange provision via Social Services or to advise re private purchase or provision by other agencies.

Salary is determined by NHS experience and current banding/pay point. External applicants will begin at the entry point of the salary scale in line with NHS terms and conditions.
