We are looking for a keen and hard work individual to join us to provide a high level of service in an important role. 

The position is Monday to Friday, 11:30 to 20:00, working 37.5 hours per week. The successful candidate will be joining a team of 20+ that are responsible for Pharmacy deliveries including patient drugs, controlled drugs, fluids and stock drugs. They will also have to complete deliveries of medical and non-medical items received by the SGH's Goods In department.  This role is vital to the patient experience and this role contributes to the world class level of care provided by this Trust.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Responsibilities will include: 

To ensure the safe delivery of Pharmacy items, receiving signatures in accordance with departmental SOP’s [i.e. Controlled Drugs, Refrigerated items] 

To deliver loaded Pharmacy boxes (weighing up to 25kg) to Ward / Department areas and collect empty Pharmacy boxes for return to B level 

To deliver Sterile bulk Fluids to Ward / Department areas and put away in the designated areas 

To distribute the ward stock items to the wards in preparation for Materials Management or Ward staff to put away 

Obtain a signature from the end user on delivery of the items as an audit record, when required, via a handheld device or manual system.

Physical requirements of the post

Essential criteria
  • Lifting and handling boxes of varying shapes, sizes and weights (up to 20kgs)
  • Manoeuvre cages/pallet trucks/flatbed trolleys of goods (up to 180kgs) safely through busy corridors from Stores area to ward or department.
Desirable criteria
  • Basic Manual Handling techniques

Qualifications / training required

Essential criteria
  • English and Maths GCSE (or equivalent qualification)
  • Basic level of experience of Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel.

Previous or relevant experience necessary

Essential criteria
  • Experience or working in Stores / Distribution services role and an operational environment, contributing to operational objectives.
  • Knowledge of receipting, distribution and stock control
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of using moving and handling equipment such as, roll cages, pallet trucks and flatbed trollies.

Special requirements of the post

Essential criteria
  • Need for occasional weekend or evening working to cover absences.
