Job overview
A vacant post for a band 6 Respiratory Nurse or Respiratory Physiotherapist has arisen in North East London Foundation Trust (NELFT) in the area of South West Essex within the Integrated Respiratory Team.
The Integrated Respiratory Team are and integrated service with Nursing staff, Specialist Physiotherapists, Assistant Practitioners, Senior Physiotherapy Assistants and Administration staff.
As the service title suggests we are an integrated team covering many aspects of community respiratory care, services include, COPD Team, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Home Oxygen Service, Respiratory Virtual Ward and Breathlessness and Diagnostics service.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Promoting effective self-management of patients and/or providing professional intervention for community management in order to present unnecessary hospital admissions, improve quality of life and to actively identify patients who would benefit from case management.
2. The post holder will make a contribution to both patient and professional education
3. The post holder will be expected to deliver a high level of respiratory care to COPD patients and other suitably identified respiratory conditions.
4. The post holder will be required to perform and/or interpret ABG and CBG results for oxygen therapy assessment and review
5. The post holder will be able to support/deliver the assessment and delivery of Pulmonary Rehabilitation after upskilling and/or provide sickness and holiday cover to this service.
6. The post holder will be expected to support the delivery of the Respiratory Virtual Ward (RVW) which supports Admission Avoidance and Early Supported Discharge pathways. This service is 7 day service and staff will be expected to provide weekend cover and support with weekend working on a rostered basis.
7. To support Breathlessness and Diagnostics service by performing quality FeNo and ARTP accredited Spirometry. This service is evolving and additional suitable pathways and reviews maybe made.
8. To participate in MDT, teaching, supervision of Junior staff and provide peer support.
9. Support and deliver the Trusts Values.
Working for our organisation
Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
High Cost Area Supplement
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £1,258 to a maximum of £2,122).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
We are a busy, fast paced team, within an ever changing landscape of Respiratory Care, forward thinking and innovative, we work closely with our local partners working towards consistent care across Mid and South Essex.
As an integrated service there will be in house training on all aspects of service and staff are expected to support all areas of service provision with the chance to upskill in nursing and therapy areas.
The post is Monday - Friday 9-5pm and Saturday - Sunday 9-3pm, this will be on a 4 week or suitable rota basis once all training and competency is signed off.
The successful candidate will be a Adults Nurse or Physiotherapist with at least 2 years experience at band 5 including Respiratory experience, including those with complex Respiratory presentation and those with multiple co-morbidities.
This post requires that you work flexibly across South West Essex and be able to travel to clinic locations across patch and also home visiting.
The area covered is Thurrock and Basildon, Brentwood, Wickford and Billericay.
Certain respiratory qualifications and courses are mandatory but this can be supported if the successful candidate does not have these currently but qualifies at interview.
