Job overview
An exciting new opportunity has arisen to lead our Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals Radiology IT system team. As the leader of this team you will be responsible for the day to day management of all Radiology IT systems including the PACS team.
We operate over two large sites, the Freeman Hospital and Royal Victoria Infirmary but services also extend to a number of community sites including the CDC facility at the Metrocentre shopping complex, which is ran in partnership with the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Trust in Gateshead.
You will be a highly motivated and progressive Imaging Systems Manager responsible for providing a high quality and efficient IT service to the Radiology department and the wider Trust. You will primarily be responsible for PACS and RIS on both a day to day basis and for the strategic development of these systems. A knowledge of EPR and its interface with RIS systems is also desirable.
With a first degree in Radiography, Information Technology or significant experience in RIS/PACS system management, you will need excellent communication skills and be able to liaise with a multi-disciplinary team within Imaging and the wider Trust in addition to external suppliers. You will also represent the Trust within the regional groups and forums on Radiology IT matters.

As the lead for Radiology IT systems across the Trust you will be responsible for efficient day to day running, development and strategic direction of all Radiology systems.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a clinical and technical team that is committed to developing and adopting new and emerging technologies to continue to deliver clinical safety, quality and excellent patient care and experience. You will provide specialist knowledge and experience to provide detail to complex project plans for radiology IT developments/ upgrades and take the lead role in the delivery of all such projects.
As the lead you will manage Radiology IT service delivery to meet performance targets and quality standards set by the Trust, supporting the provision of diagnostic services at local, regional, and supra regional levels.
You will have overall responsibility for the Radiology IT team, working closely with clinical, administrative, and managerial leads both in Radiology and across the new clinical board structure building strong and supportive relationships with clinical users.

Job Purpose
- A highly specialised Trust wide position within radiology which requires a high level of knowledge of radiology IT systems with an overall accountability to the radiology management team for the efficient day-to-day running & ongoing development of radiology IT systems in the clinical environment, in order to ensure best patient care at all times.
- Uses specialist knowledge and experience to provide detail to complex project plans for radiology IT developments/ upgrades and takes the lead role in the delivery of all such projects. Works with other specialist consultants/managers to produce uniform project plans across multiple areas.
- Manages and Develops the Radiology IT systems for the whole of Radiology, and associated departments across the Trust.
- Manages a small local team of radiology IT support staff and builds a strong & supportive relationship with clinical users.
- Acts as the Trusts Radiology IT Systems lead in ICS/ICB projects.
