Job overview

We are looking to recruit a dynamic and enthusiastic midwife to the Young Parent Midwifery Team. You should be passionate about working with young parents and safeguarding children, women and their unborn babies throughout the pregnancy continuum. This role is a  12 month secondment  to cover for maternity leave and will be based at Oxford Road and Wythenshawe sites at  Saint Mary's but you may be required to provide support across the MFT footprint to meet service needs.

The position is a Band 6 Specialist Midwife for Young Parents 0.75 WTE. The role includes supporting the Band 7 Specialist Midwife for Young Parents and the Matron for Public Health Services across MFT, in their duties to provide a service for Young Parents within the acute and community setting.

This role also offers a 0.25 WTE development opportunity to gain experience and support the Specialist Midwife Caring for Migrant and Homeless Women at Saint Mary's, Oxford Road Campus and Wythenshawe sites.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the team leader to manage and develop the Young Parent Service providing specialist advice within clinical and community areas. The post holder will directly hold a caseload of young parents and support and provide midwifery care throughout the pregnancy pathway. The post holder will ensure 
the delivery of the highest quality, clinical effective care and patient experience, prioritising and utilising research and in collaboration with colleagues including external agencies. The role must be underpinned by continuing professional development to maintain the knowledge. of the practitioner.
The post holder will have the flexibility to support the Specialist Midwife for Refugees with a caseload of vulnerable women with complex social needs, specifically vulnerable migrant women and homeless women. Your role will include the planning and implementation of individualised midwifery led care offered in partnership with the woman and the multidisciplinary team.
