Guy’s and St Thomas’ is among the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts. Guy’s is home to the largest dental school in Europe and a £160 million Cancer Centre opened in 2016. St Thomas’ has one of the largest critical care units in the UK and one of the busiest emergency departments in London. It is also home to Evelina London Children’s Hospital.
Evelina London cares for local children in Lambeth and Southwark and provides specialist services across south east England including cardiac, renal and critical care services. We lead a number of specialist service networks aiming to ensure children are treated locally where possible, but have access to specialist expertise when they need it. Our community services include health visiting, school nursing and support for families of children with long-term conditions.
Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations. Working with our partners in Lambeth and Southwark, we are focusing on new ways of working to improve care for local patients.
In February 2021 the Royal Brompton and Harefield joined Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, bringing together world-leading expertise in the care and research of heart and lung disease. Job overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Clinical Trials (Adult) Pharmacy Team. The department manages Clinical Trials from early stage Phase I studies to Post license Phase IV studies; handling a range of molecules from Advanced Therapies to traditional formulations. The successful applicant will be working alongside a range of experienced leading researchers who run studies from our various research platforms.
The post holder will be acting as a Lead Set Up specialist for new studies and managing existing studies in line with GCP principles.

Sponsor Pharmacy.
Our team are experienced in managing complex studies involving advanced therapies. The Trust, as part of its bigger organisational structure,
provides an array of world class training for researchers and support departments. Our researchers collaborate and work along side with our
academic and industrial partners.

Knowledge/Qualifcations
Essential criteria
- QCF Pharmacy services Level 3 (NVQ level 3) plus an accredited underpinning knowledge (BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent) or Equivalent Pharmacy Technicians whom are qualified via other GPhC approved routes
- Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician Scheme (ACPT)
Desirable criteria
- Clinical Trials specific training, experience and qualifications
- GCP training
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous evaluated experience of delivering induction and competency-based training
- Previous evaluated experience of supervising staff and workload on a day-to-day basis
- Previous evaluated experience of participation in project and audit work
- Previous NHS dispensary-based experience
Desirable criteria
- Demonstrated experience of ability to appraise staff and set performance objectives
- GCP audit experience
- Previous engagement with Clinical Trials
- Previous experience in the set up and delivery of Clinical Trials
Skills
Essential criteria
- Demonstrate ability to accurately check and release medicines that was already clinically screened (prescription) by a pharmacist
- Demonstrated ability to accurately account and record patient medicines as part of reconciliation
