This 6-month post would be suitable for a candidate who has a sound basis in cardiac electrophysiology and catheter ablation, and would like to further enhance their skills prior to application for a substantive Electrophysiologist post.
Post to commence January 2025 for 6 months.

This 6-month post is an opportunity to gain experience of advanced cardiac rhythm management in a high-volume UK centre including all aspects of interventional electrophysiology. It is aimed at candidates who have already undertaken a period of training in cardiac electrophysiology and catheter ablation, and would like to develop and expand their skills prior to application for a substantive Electrophysiologist post.

Clinical:
· The successful appointee will work as part of the electrophysiology team. Typical duties per week will include 5-6 EP lab sessions, 2 arrhythmia clinics and time allocated for clinical administration, audit and research.
· There will be responsibility for the management of patients undergoing interventional EP procedures.
Administrative:
· Responsibility for recording data from lab patients in local databases, writing discharge summaries and communicating with referring Cardiologists and General Practitioners.
Research:
· Undertaking research projects within the field of catheter ablation with a view to presentation at national/international conferences and publications.
Other:
· Attendance and participation at the weekly EP MDT meeting, other educational meetings and the relevant quality assurance programme.
Flexibility:
In line with the Trust’s core value of placing patients at the heart of everything we do, we are developing our service provision to be responsive to the needs of our patients. To meet those needs some staff groups will be increasingly asked to work a more flexible work pattern so that they can offer services in the evening or weekend. As a result any offer of employment to a consultant post will be subject to you agreeing to work a new more flexible pattern or working in the future if required, including evening and weekend work.

- Primary Medical Qualification.
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practice at the time of application.
- Satisfactory completion of Foundation and Internal Medicine Training or equivalent, General Cardiology training and a period of training in Cardiac Electrophysiology.

- Higher research degree in an EP-related topic.
- IBHRE or EHRA EP accreditation.
