We have an exciting opportunity for a physiotherapist to join our established physiotherapists with our ever expanding & diversifying Adult Integrated Respiratory Specialist Service (AIRS).
We are keen to recruit a highly motivated individual who is looking to develop themselves in a specialist area, whilst forming part of our growing therapist workforce, within our Bronchiectasis, Home Oxygen & the Pulmonary Rehabilitation. Alongside the Band 7 Bronchiectasis Specialist Physiotherapist, you will help support them with service developments.
The post with be overseen by our Band 7 Bronchiectasis Specialist Physiotherapist, who will provide clinical supervision & CPD time. The post is excluded from on-call responsibilities & services function Monday to Friday in core hours of 08:00 to 17:00 (flexible whilst meeting service needs/specification).

The Band 6 Specialist Physiotherapist role is a highly specialised role, designed to provide expert assessment, review, advice, education & medicines optimisation to patients with specific respiratory diseases & home oxygen therapy.
You will be required to practice in a self-directed manner, with confidence and authority. You will exercise a freedom to act in the absence of & alongside the consultant teams, to direct and guide patient care and treatment, with the support of the Service Leads. Maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of staff, ensuring effective communication about complex issues and/or in difficult situations with appropriate professionalism, diplomacy, and sensitivity.
You will improve organisational agility and resilience, by delivering comprehensive care across organisational and professional boundaries, between the divisions, directorates, and clinical areas.
The post holder will provide supervision, teaching, and support to junior medical, nursing, allied health professionals, and physiotherapy students throughout the trust. Where directed by the Bronchiectasis Service Lead, deputise with aspects of their responsibilities in their absence where appropriate & competent. The post holder will be required to undertake Specialist Physiotherapy clinics, undertake assessment & review of Home Oxygen, & support delivery of the Pulmonary Rehabilitation assessments & classes.

Provide expert assessment, review, advice, education & medicines optimisation to patients with specific respiratory diseases, using advanced clinical reasoning skills.

Formulate & deliver individualised physiotherapy treatment programmes based on assessment findings.

Safely initiating or recommending new treatments including nebulisers, mucolytics and inhaled therapy.

Under the direction of the Team Lead, you will be prepared to support the unqualified PR team members with a specific respiratory disease cohort and all aspects that come under it, within your competency.

The post holder will be required to run Pulmonary Rehabilitation classes independently & in a self-directed manner across Trust sites & non-NHS trust sites (e.g., Sports Centres, Community/Church Halls), and will therefore require a driving license & vehicle to undertake this work.

The post holder will be required to undertake clinic & home based assessments of patients requiring home oxygen therapy, and will therefore require a driving license & vehicle to undertake this work.

Undertake advanced assessment of patients and effectively interpret and analyse clinical and non-clinical information in a range of complex, long-term diagnoses to develop comprehensive, patient-centred management plans.

Take active responsibility for an identifiable caseload of patients effectively and efficiently, demonstrating the ability to manage complex cases.

Provides support, reassurance and encouragement to patients and their family/carers.
