Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for motivated and dedicated midwives to join our vibrant Maternity team at Newham University Hospital as a midwife specialising in the provision of care to women undergoing Elective Caesarean Sections (ELCS). The Elective Caesarean Section Pathway is undergoing a transformation as part of our wider improvement journey. We are seeking motivated, insightful midwives who want to have a say and be a part of an exciting new team. The majority of your role will involve the provision of direct clinical care for women undergoing ELCS; this will provide you with valuable insight into the care pathway. You will have opportunities to contribute to the evaluation and continuing improvement of the care we provide to women and their babies

- These Band 6 posts are suitable for Registered Midwives with more than 12 months of post-qualification experience
- This is a core post, however there may be times where you will work in the obstetric-led Delivery Suite and other clinical areas to ensure the continued provision of safe maternity care throughout the Unit.

The post holder will plan and actively participate in providing care for women who are booked for Elective Caesarean Sections and for women who have been awaiting Grade 3 caesarean section. They will work amongst the Multi-disciplinary team, with Obstetric consultants, registrars, Senior House Officers (SHO), Anaesthetists, ODPs, Midwives and Maternity care assistants to provide holistic and safe care for patients and their families. They will evaluate the outcomes of care and participate in working practices and guidelines to promote good practice, being mindful of the impact on other agencies and groups.

Essential criteria
- Registered Midwife – eligible to practice (minimum 1 year experience)
Desirable criteria
- Prep for Mentorship course or equivalent
- Working towards BSc
- Examination of the newborn
