CAMHS Assistant Practitioner

Job overview

The post holder will work as part of a specialist CAMHS team and support clinical practitioners, as well as children and young people who are referred to the service.  The role is part of the Single Point of Access (SPOA) service.

The post holder will work flexibly, continue to develop and undertake a varied range of delegated tasks  and will report to a registered professional. It is anticipated this role will continue to develop through the acquisition of further skills, knowledge and competencies to be determined by South Manchester CAMHS

To undertake duties delegated by suitably regulated healthcare professionals. Working within the boundaries set out by the regulated professional,  the role enables the post holder to make a limited assessment of patient need and act upon their assessment.

To work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to meet the needs of children, young people and parents/carers by providing quality evidence-based care. The post holder will follow explicit protocols, policy and procedures.

To contribute to and undertake triage of new referrals to the service, including assessment of risk and identification of safeguarding concerns.

To respond to queries into the service from service users and other professionals with support from senior clinical staff as appropriate

To communicate effectively  with young people, their families and carers, other professionals and agencies and to maintain a high degree of professionalism

To undertake assessments of the mental health of young people including risk assessment and identification of safeguarding concerns, and to contribute to care planning and safety planning.

To provide a high quality of care to young people and their parents/careers within the agreed scope and competency and to seek further advice and support from professionally registered staff where necessary.

To participate in the training and development of others

To undertake ongoing supervision of the routine work of support workers and other staff delegated by their supervisor.
