The RNENT & EDH is recruiting to 1.3WTE Specialty Doctor vacancies in Endodontics. These can be delivered via full time or part time roles. Enthusiastic new member(s) will work alongside colleagues within an established clinical teaching team. The post-holder/s will be involved in endodontic service delivery consisting of:
• Assessing new patients
• Undertaking complex endodontic treatment
• Management of dental trauma patients
• Supervision of postgraduate trainees at masters and MClinDent level, as well as specialty registrars in restorative dentistry or provide cover for colleagues.
• Triaging referrals with consultant oversight when required
A postgraduate qualification in endodontics and experience of complex treatment are essential.
Whilst the successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a focus towards endodontics, the post holder(s) will be expected to be proficient in the delivery of complete restorative care for patients. This will include familiarity with Trust policies, administrative duties and embracing the Trust’s vision and values. Depending on the needs of the endodontic service the duties in the job plan may change.
The post holder would need to have good insight into postgraduate training at this level within endodontics and ensure that within post they are compliant with Health Education England Professional Development Framework requirements for clinical supervision.

The Royal National ENT & Eastman Dental Hospitals are housed in a recently constructed purpose built clinical facility on Huntley Street in central London, which opened in October 2019.
We work with the Eastman Dental Institute which is a postgraduate dental school forming part of University College London, whose main activities are research and postgraduate education in the field of oral healthcare.
A central focus of the Endodontic Department is to provide high quality patient care through service delivery which is closely integrated into the training programmes for both Restorative Dentistry and Endodontics. It is devoted to the concept of optimal patient care in the context of teaching and research as well as co-ordinating a multilevel treatment service for referring practitioners and patients regionally. As such we are seeking an individual(s) with the skills and values that will align with and support this vision.
It is anticipated that the successful candidate(s) will take up their appointment as soon as possible by mutual arrangement.

The post holder will work under the direction of the consultants in the restorative division, primarily based in the Endodontic Department and will be directly responsible to the Clinical Director. The post holder will be expected to:
Clinical
• Provide a courteous and efficient service to all users by actioning all enquiries & queries accurately and promptly thus enabling patients, referrers and clinicians needs to be met/exceeded
• Provide high quality specialist care for patients seen and treated
• Deliver the clinical protocols for all patients undergoing endodontic treatment to ensure that processes and procedures in place conform to local and national standards
• Participate in supervision of postgraduate trainees at masters and MClinDent level, as well as specialty registrars in restorative dentistry if and when necessary
• Undertake continued professional development and be aware of any new clinical developments in dentistry, and to regularly update his/her skills and clinical practice.
Quality Assurance & Safety
• Ensure that all notes are written legibly with the details of procedures
• Conform to the incident reporting guidelines
• Deliver the patient output to ensure that 18 week targets are met
• Maintain high standards of clinical note keeping.
• Contribute to clinical audit/clinical governance and undertake clinical audit projects
• Contribute towards developing, monitoring and reviewing the service including preparing reports as required.
• Undertake any training necessary to fulfil duties of the post including mandatory training such as basic life support, hand washing, fire training and data protection.
• Help investigate any complaints in line with Trust policies
Administrative
• Deal with complaints efficiently and effectively in line with Trust guidelines
• Attend all departmental/divisional and hospital meetings
• Ensure all patient related correspondence is sent to patients in a timely manner
• Produce effective communication with all users of the service including referrers
General
