You will be joining a team consisting of 4 Consultants, 3 of whom are subspecialty accredited Gynaecology Oncologists and 1 Consultant Gynaecologist, Cancer and Colposcopy Lead. The team is currently based at Cheltenham General Hospital, although outpatient clinics are held at Gloucester Royal Hospital, Worcester Royal Hospital and Hereford County Hospital.
The gynaecology (GO) service is based at CGH and is co-located with the oncology centre, elective colorectal surgery, urological surgical oncology, the robotic suite (X,XI, 3 consoles, SimNow), interventional radiology, nuclear medicine and elective intensive care. Frozen section is performed on site. PET scanning is based in an adjoining facility. There is no general surgical or gynaecological take based at CGH. Our paradigm is for maximal surgical effort cytoreductive surgery, and these cases are routinely admitted to ICU for a minimum of 24 hours with no cancellations due to bed capacity having occurred in the last 4 years. We are currently submitting our case for HIPEC to the board and have agreed as an MDT that it is important that we offer this a centre. Pinpoint and Firefly are available for sentinel node detection. A handheld ICG scanner is available for open cases.
