Our two acute hospitals have emergency departments and provide 24 hour a day care, offering a comprehensive range of surgical, medical, outpatient and maternity services, supported by a full range of diagnostic and therapy services. Our centre for trauma services and obstetrics is at Conquest Hospital, while our centre for urology and stroke services is at Eastbourne DGH. At Bexhill Hospital we offer a range of outpatient, day surgery, rehabilitation and intermediate care services. At Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital we offer outpatients, rehabilitation and intermediate services. At Uckfield Community Hospital we provide day surgery and outpatient care.
In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.

We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague to join our team working to deliver consultant led, efficient, safe, and patient centred care in Respiratory and GIM. We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with an interest in lung cancer to support and lead the Lung Targeted Health Check programme that is being launched April 2024. We also are keen for applicants with an interest in asthma, COPD, EBUS and/or Bronchiectasis. Other interests that compliment those of the existing consultants would also be welcome.
Our department has exciting times ahead with newly refurbished and re-designed respiratory ward providing designated NIV areas with further service developments to include our respiratory virtual ward services and lung cancer screening programme.
The trust is highly regarded for the under and post graduate education it provides and has a state-of-the-art Simulation Suite. Facilities for flexible bronchoscopy and full lung function exist at both acute sites; interventional bronchoscopies and pleural procedures are performed at Eastbourne. We have a tertiary level sleep service and home ventilation service based at Conquest Hospital and excellent thoracic surgery service support based at Guys Hospital.

Essential criteria
- MB BS or equivalent
- Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians Full Registration with GMC with licence to practice

- MD or equivalent
Training & Experience

- Wide experience in all aspects of General (Internal) Medicine and Respiratory Medicine
Desirable criteria
- Ability to develop a subspecialty interest within the field of Respiratory Medicine, which complements those of the current team.

- Evidence of participation in leadership / management
- Solid understanding of Clinical Governance and Appraisal
