Evelina London cares for local children in Lambeth and Southwark and provides specialist services across south east England including cardiac, renal and critical care services. We lead a number of specialist service networks aiming to ensure children are treated locally where possible, but have access to specialist expertise when they need it. Our community services include health visiting, school nursing and support for families of children with long-term conditions.
Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations. Working with our partners in Lambeth and Southwark, we are focusing on new ways of working to improve care for local patients.
In February 2021 the Royal Brompton and Harefield joined Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, bringing together world-leading expertise in the care and research of heart and lung disease. Job overview
We are seeking a dental nurse tutor to work in the Dental Academy.
This post will have a focus on delivering & monitoring high quality training and assessment to dental nurse apprentices/dental nurses and dental students both face to face and online.
The post holder will be expected support with the delivery of continuing professional development for the dental directorate.
This role includes teaching and collaborating for dental nurse apprenticeship and dental nurse degree.

- Support staff in the provision of regular local and relevant teaching and training sessions including provision of ‘buddied’ clinical time to facilitate on the job learning.
- Participates in the training of staff to monitor the quality of care delivered using clinical standards and takes necessary action to ensure excellence in nursing practice. Bases standards upon relevant research where possible
- Deliver face to face and online training to cover the underpinning knowledge required for dental apprentices/dental nurses and the dental academy
- Observe and assess apprentice/learner in the workplace to assess whether they are competent to deal with the patient’s medical, social and psychological problems and to assess their control of infection practices

Integrated and Specialist Medicine consists of 9 Directorates and provides care and treatment to patients who require emergency and inpatient care, community services including district nursing and specialist care, dental services, specialist inpatient / outpatient areas, imaging and pharmacy.
Integrated and Specialist Medicine also have responsibility for cross site operations. The integrated approach of the clinical group facilitates and promotes the shared learning of best practice, innovative and creative ways of working to enhance the patient experience and ensure the delivery of outstanding care.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Co-ordinate the planning, preparation and delivery of seminars, core subject study days and extended duty courses as necessary.
· Prepare, provide and award grades for written assessments, including revision lectures and mock assessment papers, to prepare apprentice/learner for the relevant examinations set by the awarding body.
- Attend Dental Academy and any other external meetings as required
- Be responsible for recording and maintaining support and assessment documentation
- Participate in the design of records to monitor and track apprentice/learner achievement in all areas of the training programmes
- Support with the preparation of schemes of work for courses and qualifications
- Liaise closely with the assessors, mentors and other staff ensuring apprentice/learner targets are met.
