Advert
The post holder will be part of a specialist skill mixed, multi-disciplinary team providing a wide range of Community Paediatric services, based at Redgrave Children & Young People’s Centre in Luton aka The Edwin Lobo Centre. The post holder will be expected to have experience of Community Paediatrics and should be able to assess, diagnose and manage neurodevelopmental problems and disability. The post holder is also expected to have experience in managing incontinence of the bladder and bowel as well as constipation. They should be able to assess children in whom physical abuse or neglect is suspected. This post also includes Continence Lead role for children with additional and complex needs across Bedfordshire & Luton Community Services for Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust (CCSNHST). It is also expected that the post holder will work closely and collaboratively with the acute hospital colleagues.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Main Duties and Responsibilities
This is a clinical role, undertaking assessment, formulation and intervention required to deliver the commissioned community paediatric service.
The post holder will be working as part of the Specialist Children’s Service multi-disciplinary team and is expected to contribute to the development of best practice through participation in clinical governance activity. There is no out of hours on call requirement for this job.
Communication
1. Good communication skills to allow effective work within a team of clinical and non- clinical staff in both health, education and social care professionals in order to fulfil the role as described.
Leadership and advisory role Be the lead advisor in childhood bladder and bowel dysfunction including (Constipation, Enuresis & Encopresis) for children & young people with additional complex needs under the Bedfordshire Continence Service
2. Contribute to the planning and strategic organisation of provider services for the Continence Service.
- Use clinical expertise and knowledge to work collaboratively with system partners to influence planning and decision-making on Continence issues affecting children and young people with additional and special educational needs and disabilities.
4. Support and advise Community Paediatric on Continence issues for children & young people with neurodevelopmental concerns and neuro-disability.
Clinical role
1. Undertake clinical examinations, assessments and develop clinical management plans for children & young people, under the Continence Service, where clinically indicated.
2. Undertake clinical examinations, assessments and develop clinical management plans for children & young people, referred to the Community Paediatric Service with neuro-developmental concerns and neuro-disability.
3. Participation on the Child protection medical rota
- To participate in undertaking other statutory health assessments such as initial health assessments for children in care and providing medical advice for education health and care plan (EHCP) as required.
5. Providing expert advice on continence referrals to the advice when requested.
6. Engagement in clinical networks relevant to role.
7. Participation in Joint NDD Complex Case discussions

1. Observe and maintain strict confidentiality with regards to any patient/family/staff/records and information in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act.
2. Any data that is taken/shared as part of a phone call or transported, faxed or transferred electronically must be undertaken with regard to the Trust Information Governance and Information Security policies.
