Evelina London cares for local children in Lambeth and Southwark and provides specialist services across south east England including cardiac, renal and critical care services. We lead a number of specialist service networks aiming to ensure children are treated locally where possible, but have access to specialist expertise when they need it. Our community services include health visiting, school nursing and support for families of children with long-term conditions.
Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations. Working with our partners in Lambeth and Southwark, we are focusing on new ways of working to improve care for local patients.
In February 2021 the Royal Brompton and Harefield joined Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, bringing together world-leading expertise in the care and research of heart and lung disease. Our merger provides a once in a generation opportunity to build a lasting, world-renowned heart and lung centre, providing the highest quality care for patients and conducting world-leading research.

Job overview
We have a vacancy for a dynamic positive individual to join our team in the Special Feed Unit (previously known as the Milk Kitchen)
The feed unit is an integral part of Evelina London, providing specialist feed to our inpatients, The service is a 7 day a week service and you would be joining an established team.
Full training will be provided
Advert
· Prepare feeds required in accordance with the Dietician/ Ward Manager instructions
· Maintain the correct procedures for ensuring a high standard of cleanliness for the preparation of feeds within the Special Feed Unit. Implement any changes to practice under the supervision of the Dietitian.
· Liaise with Nurse in Charge as appropriate.
· Assist in ordering and maintaining supplies within the allocated budget.
· Maintain an up to date knowledge of infant feeding practices.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To work in collaboration with the paediatric dietetic team to provide special feeds to the inpatient service
The Special feed Unit provides a service 7 days a week, all feeds are prescribed by a dietician and the role of the SFU assistant is to make the feeds. The post holder will also be responsible for stock control and ordering.
The post holder will be responsible for training and assessing parents in the process of how to make feeds
