Our centre for trauma services and obstetrics is at Conquest Hospital, while our centre for urology and stroke services is at Eastbourne DGH. At Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital we offer outpatients, rehabilitation and intermediate services. At Uckfield Community Hospital we provide day surgery and outpatient care.
In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.
Job overview
East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust is looking for an enthusiastic individual to join a dynamic and fast paced finance function. The ideal candidate should be a self-motivated, pro-active, and flexible individual, seeking a role in which to develop their own accounting skills whilst making a positive contribution to the department. They should have excellent communication and technical skills and be able to address both financial and non-financial audiences. Good time management and organisational skills are essential.
Hybrid working possible after the initial training period that would be office based. At key times in the financial calendar the role would be office based and flexible team working required.

This is a varied and challenging role in a complex and dynamic environment. The successful candidate will be required to manipulate and report complex financial data and have a profound understanding of technical accounting requirements, and co-ordinate the monthly reporting of Financial Services areas, and the annual reporting cycle and adhering to departmental processes and national timetables.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- CCAB diploma level qualification and/or equivalent specialist knowledge and relevant experience
- Evidence of continued professional development
- Educated to degree level or equivalent knowledge / AAT qualified / relevant experience
Desirable criteria
- CCAB qualified accountant or evidence of equivalent knowledge/experience to a Masters level
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of analysing and investigating complex variances.
- Minimum of 2-year NHS experience or within a large complex organisation
- Experience of technical accounting, capital accounting and/or financial management experience in the NHS or other large complex organisation.
- Ability to prepare, present, interpret, and interrogate complex financial information.
- Ability to present information to Finance and non-Finance professionals.
