EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS RESILIENCE AND RESPONSE (EPRR) – SPECIALIST OPERATIONS RESPONSE TRAINER
Salary: Agenda for Change Band 6 £37,338 - £44,962
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the North East Ambulance Service Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPPR) Team. We are seeking to appoint an EPRR Trainer to assist with the delivery of the Ambulance Specialist Operations Response (SORT) and associated EPRR training.
Directly accountable to the EPRR Training Manager, we are hoping to appoint a well-organised and motivated individual with a training/teaching background. We are looking for a candidate who can join the team and play a key role in the delivery of the rolling education programme aligned to SORT Education, Command Education and general EPRR requirements.
Candidates must have knowledge of the Ambulance SORT Programme capability and be well versed in the education of specialist activities within the NHS. This includes the delivery of Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) and Marauding Terrorist Attack (MTA) training and will be required to demonstrate their knowledge on both application process and assessment centre.
Advert
- Responsible for providing support and assistance to the EPRR Team to meet its obligations in relation to the SORT Programme Education, Command Education and general EPRR requirements. Delivered through appropriate education, exercise and delivery of EPRR courses.
- Assist the EPRR Team by ensuring all relevant doctrine is developed and maintained by the Trust, and where doctrine by partner agencies is applicable to the Trust is fit for purpose and well-rehearsed.
- Assist the EPRR Team by ensuring that NEAS staff have the right skills and accreditation to be able to deliver an appropriate response to any type of event including strategic, tactical, operational command and specialist operational response.
- To remain up to date with local, regional and national EPRR / Special Operations/Command related knowledge and education recommendations. To identify learning and assist with adapting policy and practice as required in-conjunction with the wider EPRR team.
- Support the wider EPRR and Specialist Operations Response Teams by ensuring robust and effective knowledge of emergency plans. Supporting teams through multi-agency planning and preparation to meet the requirements of the Civil Contingencies Act and the Department of Health Emergency Planning Guidance.
- To provide Command Support across Strategic, Tactical and EOC levels as and when required in the event of an incident.

Education,Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- Minimum of 5 GCSE at grade ‘C’ including; English Language and Mathematics, (equivalents will be considered). Accredited Educational/Training Qualification or prepared to undertake education in this area. Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD) Knowledge and experience of SORT capability. Must be SORT dual trained or prepared to work towards the qualification. State Registered Paramedic or an excellent knowledge and understanding of CBRN/MTA capability across the emergency services.
Desirable criteria
- Department of Health & Social Care (DoHSC) Security Clearance to Secret. Emergency Preparedness qualification or experience.
Key Skills,Knowledge and Aptitude
Essential criteria
- Well versed in education of specialist activities. Excellent working knowledge of using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint software packages or similar systems.Excellent time management skills and significant knowledge and experience to be able to prioritise workloads and work to tight deadlines and meet defined and agreed objectives. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience of working under pressure.
- Thorough knowledge of legislative requirements the Civil Contingencies Act 2004. Drive and enthusiasm to improve and develop services. Effective problem solving and decision-making. Fitness to undertake some manual handling activity for the PCA element and other manual handling
Desirable criteria
- Working knowledge of Government Protective Marking Scheme and handling material of a sensitive nature. Significant previous experience of providing and effective administrative support service to managers at a senior level.

- Proven record of maintaining confidentiality and working with sensitive data. Significant experience of working with managers of different levels of a large complex organisation. Experience at communicating with external organisations. Experience of responding to situations which may be tense/emotive. Proven ability of working under varying degrees of pressure.

- Command experience ideally in an emergency services environment
