Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) serves over 5 million people in the Yorkshire region covering an urban and rural area of almost 6,000 square miles and operates over vastly differing terrain ranging from isolated moors and dales to city centres, large urban areas and coastal stretches. YAS employs around 4500 staff and has over 2000 volunteers working together to provide 24 hour accident and emergency healthcare services through our Communication centres and frontline A&E crews and our Patient Transport Service (PTS) that conveys in excess of 1.1 million patients to and from their hospital appointments across Yorkshire and neighbouring counties each year. Behaviors within the role will be as important as results and it is essential for the Clinical Duty Manager to be flexible in approach to managing the day to day running of a busy IUC environment, to ensure that the service is best set to meet the needs of patients.

Clinical Duty Managers undertake the role of tactical management in line with JESIP principles, managing any major/critical incidents that occur in conjunction with strategic commanders and Senior Management teams, always taking responsibility for communications relating to the incident.

Assisting in the achievement of national and local performance targets and quality standards for the Contact Centre and the direct line management and development responsibility for staff within the IUC Contact Centres.
