Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for 1.8 Band 6 Tissue Viability Specialist Nurses within Northumbria Healthcare’s ever evolving Tissue Viability Team across both the community and acute services.
The successful candidate/s will provide families, carers and professionals with education within the field of Tissue Viability.
Work with patients with complex Tissue Viability conditions, optimising treatment and facilitating diagnosis and appropriate referral to other specialties.
Review patients in the complex wound clinics, lymphoedema and lower limb clinics, their own home or during admission to hospital.
Assist with appropriate selection of pressure redistributing equipment for patients at risk or management of pressure damage.
Provide advice on specialist equipment and dressing selection.
The Tissue Viability team embeds research into everyday practice and are highly research active with a large portfolio of studies.
The successful candidate/s will also be highly involved in audit, research and innovation and will assist in the delivery of the research portfolio.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Tissue Viability Specialist Nurse will provide clinical advice, intervention and education in the field of Tissue viability, to both patients and all staff in the Trust; facilitating the planning, delivery and evaluation of specialist nursing care. The post holder will contribute to the promotion and development of nursing in the field of tissue viability creating and maintaining a culture of effective patient and health care services which have measurable, achievable and desirable outcomes for patients.

- 1 st Level Registered Nurse
- ENB 998 or ENB 730 / or equivalent experience
- Diploma in Nursing or equivalent experience
- Level 6 Tissue Viability/wound management/leg ulcer management course

- Nursing Degree or equivalent
Experience and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Extensive post registration experience.
- Knowledge of procurement options for purchase / rental of relevant equipment.
- Have specialist skills in Tissue Viability Make strategic judgements based on patient need.
- Be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- To lead, inspire and motivate others to high performance by agreeing clear goals and objectives, providing support and guidance and creating opportunities for development
- To contribute to the development of a culture of high engagement, where staff are empowered and entrusted to provide the best services and care for patients
- To promote and facilitate innovation and continuous improvement to deliver better services for service users and patients
- Accountability for the leadership of post holders staff / teams / departments
- Ensuring the delivery of ‘Compassion in Practice’ - Nursing, Midwifery and Care Staff Vision and Strategy, incorporating the 6C’s.
- Must be able to demonstrate the English language proficiency level required for this post
- Evidence of qualification to undertake the supervision, teaching and assessing of students (essential requirement for post, expectation this will be completed within an 18 month period)
