We are delighted to advertise a 20-month fixed term vacancy for a Macmillan Assistant Psychologist at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. This role will be supporting a Clinical Psychologist develop a new service to improve access to psychological support for people affected by cancer.
We are looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic individual, who works to high standards. You will have excellent communication skills and a demonstrable interest in working to improve the lives of people with cancer
Your employment will be hosted at NNUH working within adult services, but you would join the existing Clinical Psychology team which is a small team working within several areas of adult and paediatric health psychology. You will be line managed by a Macmillan Clinical Psychologist within the Oncology directorate, supported by the wider Oncology teams.
We are recruiting across the region in each of the 3 Trusts, Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and James Paget University Hospital, as part of a collaborative approach to ensure equity of access for our cancer patients

The main objective of this post will be to support the development and provision of a new clinical psychology service within oncology in NNUH.
The successful candidate will be responsible for (with appropriate clinical support) involvement in the initial development of the service, screening referrals that come into the service, managing our patient database and outcomes for the service, and working with the service lead to audit and evaluate service processes to ensure high quality care across patients’ cancer journey. Key responsibilities will include:
· Involvement in meetings in which service development is discussed and planned.
· Assisting in the design and implementation of service development projects as required.
· Assisting in audit and service evaluation- collating, analysing and disseminating outcome data using qualitative and quantitative methods.
· Contributing to training and support of staff in psychological care
· Assisting the qualified psychologist in teaching as required.
· To contribute, as appropriate, to multi-disciplinary meetings within oncology services and psychology departmental meetings
To work collaboratively across the region with Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and James Paget University Hospital, along with other service providers, to ensure equity of access for our cancer patients.

All applicants need to be eligible for Graduate Basis for Chartered (GBC) membership with British Psychological Society (BPS). This is a standard set by BPS to ensure that psychology has been studied in enough breadth.

Evidence of GBC eligibility will vary depending on whether your psychology qualifications were GBC-accredited and where you studied, and can include:

If you have completed university level psychology qualifications from the UK or elsewhere, you can have them assessed for GBC by applying for Graduate Membership with the BPS. If your qualifications do not meet GBC, you will need to complete a conversion course to receive Graduate Membership with the BPS. 2) Academic transcript – some UK and Irish psychology qualifications
Some UK and Irish universities state in your academic transcript that the psychology qualification was accredited for GBC. If your academic transcript confirms GBC, please state this on your application.
3) Letter from your university – UK and Irish GBC-accredited psychology qualifications
If you completed a GBC-accredited psychology qualification at a UK or Irish university, you can ask them for a letter to confirm GBC. The letter would need to:
-Name you as the person completing the qualification
-State the course title, institution and period of study
-Confirm that the qualification was accredited for GBC and confirm that you successfully completed all of the necessary modules for GBC

Travelling to work
Staff parking is available onsite; however, this is limited during core working hours. We have more capacity in the evening and at weekends and can usually provide spaces during those hours.
We look to allocate these spaces fairly. Our Travel Office have a set of criteria that staff must meet in order to qualify. If you qualify for a space, you may be placed on a waiting list if we are at full capacity.
The NNUH is served by a number of public buses, and we offer generously discounted monthly passes with First Bus & Konect.
The Costessey Park and Ride runs regularly each day from 06:30 (from P&R) to 20:45 (from NNUH) and this service is free for NHS staff. There is a regular Thickthorn P&R service as well which is free. Applications to the Travel Office are required for this service. We also have a discounted service from the airport P&R if you purchase a bundle. Please see Konect website for further details.
The NNUH host multiple bicycle racks and a salary sacrifice scheme. We also benefit from a Beryl station onsite.

DBS
