The Learning Disability Services Division works across Birmingham, in which 23,800 (2.3 per cent of the 1.1 million population) have a learning disability.
Teams provide healthcare for people with learning disabilities living in the community. The service aims to provide high quality care through multidisciplinary working and close collaboration with other agencies.
The Learning Disability Service Division offers a range of services for people who have a learning disability, who live in Birmingham and meet the service access eligibility criteria on a referral-only basis.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities:
• Provide a meet and greet service to all who access the department ensuring a polite, efficient and professional introduction is given to all patients, staff and other visitors, maintaining a signing in/out book.
• To support the provision of a comprehensive administrative word processing service using Microsoft Office packages on a day to day basis, i.e. audio typing (digital and analogue), databases, spread sheets, email, fax, diary management, filing, scanning.
• Deal with routine correspondence, using own initiative and within the scope of the post. Producing typed routine and non-routine letters reports, agenda’s and minutes to a high standard as requested by managers and clinicians.
• Undertake data input as required on appropriate information systems.

• To update the patient administration system for the purpose of extracting, amending, and in-putting data as directed in above.
• To accurately access the patient administration system and all patients related information as required whilst assessing any risks to patient confidentiality and maintaining confidentiality.
• To support the provision of general administration duties i.e. copy typing and appointment letters.
• Assist in requests for faxing, filing, scanning.
• Assist with internal and external post and sending out clinical documents e.g. appointment letters or other clinical letters.
• Provide flexible administrative and clerical cover as required to meet the needs of the service.
• Attend admin team / departmental meetings on a regular basis.
To undertake other duties commensurate with this grade of post in agreement with the relevant line manager.
UK Home Office Visa Sponsorship requirements
In accordance with UK Home Office requirements, Band 2 clinical and non-clinical roles and Band 3 Non-Clinical roles are not eligible for sponsorship.
Please note that the majority of non-clinical roles (Agenda for Change Band 3 - 6) with the exception of those which appear on this list - link, will not meet the minimum requirements set by UK Visas and Immigration to sponsor candidates to work in the UK.
All non-clinical roles (Agenda for Change Bands 7 - 9) that meet the prescribed skill level (RQF 6) and salary threshold will be eligible for sponsorship.
The Trust will accept applications from candidates who can evidence their right to work in the UK or via alternative visa routes.

DBS Costs
Please be aware that all new employees starting work with the Trust will be charged for the cost of their DBS check if it is required for the role. The cost will be deducted from your salary in 3 payments over a 3-month period once you start employment. By applying for this role, you are agreeing to these deductions being made. The charges for the DBS include the administration fee. The total costs are £26.40 for a standard check and £54.40 for an enhanced check. The level of check will be determined by the post you are applying for. For bank Workers the full cost of the DBS check (as detailed above) will be deducted from your pay following completion of your online mandatory training. No payment will be made for your online training until it is all complete and verified by the Temporary Staffing Team. Please note: You will not be able to work any bank shifts until you have completed your mandatory training, and your DBS is in place.
