Job overview
We have an excellent opportunity for the right person to become an Apprentice Assistant Accountant within our Research Finance department supporting health related research. The ideal candidate will be hard working and self-motivated with good analytical skills. Passionate about learning and developing in a finance role and committed to a career in finance within the NHS.

You would assist with the provision of a high-quality finance service within the organisation. You will ensure clinical trial invoices are raised on a timely basis and provide timely and accurate finance information and advice ensuring that financial controls are maintained within corporate governance guidelines. You will work closely with research teams to ensure effective monitoring of research directorate position showing your strong communication skills. The apprenticeship will take approximately 15-18 months to complete. Upon completion you will move to a Band 4.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Apprenticeship Posts "You will need to be able to meet all the eligibility requirements as prescribed by the apprenticeship criteria to undertake the role".
To be eligible for an apprenticeship you must:
- Have the right to work and remain in the UK.
- Have lived in the UK for at least 3 years.
- Provide original evidence of required English and maths qualifications.
Further information:
- You will not be considered if you have an equivalent or higher qualification in the same or a very similar subject.
- You must not be engaged in any other funded training or education programme.
- We cannot sponsor applicants during or on successful completion of the apprenticeship so please ensure you meet visa status eligibility.

- To work closely with R&D staff to ensure all clinical trial invoices are raised on a timely basis and expenditure invoices relating to studies are authorised and processed for payment within Corporate Governance guidelines.
- To assist with the production of the R&D financial statements and the provision of a high quality financial management service.
- Under the direction of more senior staff to support reporting for specifically identified areas of R&D Finance.
- Assist on Production of budgets for specific areas of reporting responsibility.
- Responding to queries from Directorate and Departmental Managers.
- Provision of administrative support to the Trust R&D Finance Team.
- Provision of administrative support to finance related R&D committees.
