Job overview
We are looking for an experienced Financial Accountant to join our team at the Oxford Pharmacy Store (OPS) based in Banbury, Oxford Health's specialist wholesaler of pharmaceutical products across the UK. This is a great opportunity to utilise your financial analysis expertise and add value to our business unit and the Trust as a whole.
You'll work alongside our Senior Accountant and wider team in covering the full suite of financial management responsibilities including undertaking detailed expenditure analysis at Trust, directorate and service level as required through to establishment control and forecasting. The key duties of this role involve accounting, treasury management, annual reporting and governance.
OPS is a wholesaler of medicine across the UK, providing specialised products and services to the NHS and other UK healthcare providers. OPS actively supply over 600 healthcare customers in the UK, working in partnership with over 50 pharmaceutical supply partners, both NHS and commercial.

- Working with the Senior Accountant, responsible for the maintenance and accuracy of the OPS Balance Sheet (in accordance with the Foundation Trust Annual Reporting Manual, International Financial Reporting)
- Develop and implement effective financial policies and procedures to ensure the Trust remains financially viable, minimises financial risk and maximises use of resources.
- Support and provide leadership of the Oxford Pharmacy Store (OPS) finance team in delivering a comprehensive financial service for OPS directorate and for the Trust.
- Assist with the preparation of an annual cash flow plan for OPS, monitor actual results against the plan, ensuring that all material variances are investigated and reported, provide forecasts to ensure targets will be achieved.
- Provide financial management cover and support to senior management team and the directorate and to lead in delivering certain of the core activities of the Directorate.
- Assist in all external audit matters, including statutory interim and final audits.
- Provide input to regular reports on the current and forecast financial position and performance for: OPS Board, OPS SMT, Finance and Investment Committee, Executive Team, completion of regulatory returns including PAYE, National Insurance, VAT and superannuation.
- Intra-NHS Agreement of Balances reporting, including reconciliations and resolving queries
- Deputise for the Senior Accountant as required
