This is an exciting opportunity at East Sussex HealthCare NHS Trust to lead our Critical Care teams across 2 acute sites as the 8a Matron.
The post holder will have a key strategic and clinical role within the critical care service. They will work to improve the outcomes and experience of critically ill patients across the Trust, establishing optimal levels of care.
They will also enhance optimal staff experience cultivating an environment that is positive and open. The Matron will develop and contribute to educational development of all staff as well as the operational running of the department. This is a key pivotal role in developing the critical care services at ESHT to the highest possible standard and showcase the units, division and to adhere and promote the trust values and vision.

The Matron (Band 8a) will work collaboratively within the Senior Divisional/Nursing teams to ensure that National, Regional and Trust strategies are developed and implemented at a local level.
The matron will promote the vision and values of East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, leading by example and ensuring that they demonstrate those values in their leadership behaviours and how we support our teams and deliver our services.
The Matron will have established leadership skills that motivate, empower and inspire others to promote evidence-based quality service for patients. They will lead a successful and motivated team within the clinical unit and contribute to recruitment initiatives advising on workforce planning and supporting the development of new ways of working.
The Matron will be an expert Practitioner who is easily identifiable, visible and accessible to staff, patients and relatives.
Participation in the Senior Manager on call rota.

The post holder is accountable for supporting provision for a high quality service to patients, the trust and its key stake holders. The post holder will be a professional role model for the staff working within Critical Care Cross site. Will act as a resource for the multi-professional team, ensuring at all times that the needs and views of the patient and their families contribute to the development of the serviceActively participate and support in the development of coordinated and comprehensive links throughout the Trust for the management of patients.Support the Professional Lead, General Manger, Head of Nursing and Service Manager for Critical Care in the development standards and care pathways for patients. To support and explore clinical practice, identifying areas for development and planning the appropriate change, though a collaborative approach with the senior leadership team. The post holder will have proven experience working in a senior leadership position within Critical Care , demonstrate experience of quality/service improvement, project management, operational leadership, people management, innovative and inspiring leadership and clinical practice.
