We are looking for a dedicated and passionate Midwife to play an essential role in contributing to the future of maternity care through innovative digital solutions.
The Digital Midwife role requires an experienced Midwife who can demonstrate an understanding of how digital technology can support safer care. They will be responsible for integrating digital technology into maternity care to enhance service delivery, improve women’s experiences, and ensure quality and safety. They will be the clinical lead for leads digital initiatives within maternity services, working closely with multidisciplinary teams both within and outside the maternity service. This role involves cross boundary working, linking IT, system suppliers, clinical staff and service users to achieve clinical safety and effective practice.

The post holder will continue the national drive to provide leadership, coordination, facilitation, evaluation and improvement across the digital workstream by:
Acting as a leader across clinical, operational and technical teams to ensure the safe and effective delivery of Maternity EPR System to promote digital transformation and change management
Supporting with the implementation of digital projects and IT Systems to ensure it meets the needs of the entire maternity pathway. This includes system redesign, configuration, enhancements, and integration with other health solutions
Collaborate with colleagues in various disciplines, including system suppliers and IM &T, to advocate for digital solutions that enhance maternity care. This includes working collaboratively with the Chief Information Officer and the Clinical Safety Officer for the Trust to drive safety
Support training of staff in the use of digital technology across the maternity service
Ownership and responsibility for the co-ordination, collection and analysis of data, to include MSDS data, dashboard development, KPI’s and responding to safety signals. Working in collaboration with the trusts information departments to achieve this

This role will report to the Head of Midwifery and Director of Midwifery.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership in Digital Transformation: Drive the adoption of digital tools and systems in maternity care, ensuring that technological advancements align with clinical practice to improve outcomes.
Collaboration and Support: Work with IT departments, system suppliers, and clinical staff to optimize the functionality of maternity IT Systems, fostering effective working relationships across various teams.
Training and development: Identify training needs and provide support to colleagues who may find digital technology challenging, ensuring that all staff are equipped to use digital tools effectively.
Data Management and Analysis: Ensure accurate data collection through electronic systems, supporting quality data and participate in local and national data collection requirements.
Supporting with compliance of the Maternity and Perinatal Incentive Scheme, Safety Action 2
Supporting with compliance and progress with the Three Year Plan for Maternity and Neonates
Supporting with the Trusts Digital Strategy and Roadmap ensuring this aligns to the LMNS digital strategy and roadmap
Represent the maternity department at local, regional and national meetings
Maintain competencies relating to digital leadership by attending regular updates such as the Local Maternity and Neonatal Systems (LMNS) groups and the National Maternity and Neonatal Group
Maintaining clinical hazard logs, risks and mitigations
Knowledge of IT Systems used across the organisation to include Badgernet eRecord, eObservations, Viewpoint and NIPE
Supporting service user interfaces to ensure digital solutions are accessible to all
Ability to analyse and interpret complex data from audit, incidents and trend analysis to inform decision making
Supporting with audit and writing robust reports for various committees and meetings to ensure regular updates on development, utilisation and risks to the senior leadership team
Responsibility for the day to day system administration to include being the point of contact, testing new functionality and issue resolution
Adaptable, flexible and resilient to cope with the demands of a fast-paced healthcare environment
Managing conflict and competing priorities
Self-motivated and able to work independently
Competent use of Microsoft Suite of tools to support effective working

specific disease/condition
Within the sphere of specialist practice:
- Demonstrates significant advanced knowledge and skills within speciality and sphere of practice
- Take a lead role facilitating the planning, delivery and evaluation of care pathways for a designated group of patients
- Support the development of Midwifery practice within the specialist field and contribute to the body of Midwifery knowledge
- Have corporate identity as an expert within specialist area
- Lead and provide training and education across the organization in relevant area of practice
