Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity available for an experienced and motivated pharmacist to join our Durham and Darlington Pharmacy Team. The Team provide Services at West Park Hospital, Auckland Park Hospital and Lanchester Road Hospital.
This post will be responsible for a specific aspect of the clinical pharmacy service and take a lead role in medicines optimisation within their designated area, the successful applicant would be based at West Park Hospital in Darlington.
Prior experience of mental health pharmacy is desirable but not essential as training will be provided. Candidates must have significant clinical pharmacy experience (hospital, primary care or community) and hold an independent prescribing qualification or be in the process of working towards.
The post is full time (37.5 hours) but we will consider part-time applications.

We are looking for experienced pharmacists wishing to develop the pharmacy and medicines optimisation service within the locality. You should have enthusiasm, confidence and drive to make a real difference to the lives of patients.
Duties include: -
- Provision of day to day leadership, working closely with Lead Pharmacist and Lead Pharmacy Technician in you locality, deputising for the Lead Pharmacist as required.
- Developing the clinical pharmacy and medicines optimisation service to nationally approved standards
- Act as a line manager for Foundation / Specialist Pharmacists and / or other pharmacy professionals as appropriate
- Training and supervision of other members of staff
You should have experience of patient counselling, prescription screening/checking and have underpinning clinical pharmacy skills and knowledge demonstrated by the attainment of a clinical diploma. Excellent communication skills are essential

The Pharmacy team in TEWV has over 100 people including drivers, pharmacy assistants, admin, nurses, pharmacy technicians and pharmacists. Individual team members are spread across multiple sites, with a dispensary in each of our 3 localities.
