Community Consultant Paediatrician
Community Child Health and Neurodisability - Harrow

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Community Consultant Paediatrician to join our Community Specialist Children's service based at Alexandra Avenue clinic.
This is an ideal opportunity for a driven paediatrician to complement our team of supportive and experienced community paediatricians in improving the health and well-being of children, young people and families in Harrow.
This post has been advertised following previous post holder moving to another post and includes responsibilities in neurodevelopmental paediatrics and safeguarding. The service is looking to appoint an individual who has the vision, drive and commitment to work flexibly and is passionate about caring for children in Harrow.
You will be on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of obtaining CCT at the time of interview.
This post attracts a Relocation package for up to 8K (subject to eligibility), a generous annual leave entitlement, study leave, the NHS pension scheme and a range of staff discounts.

The job plan will consider the needs of the service and experience and interest of applicants.
The post holder will join a team of four consultant community paediatricians and four paediatric registrars committed to the delivery of a high quality service to CYP in Harrow.
The team works closely with paediatric therapists and community nurses and has well established shared care pathways with Northwick Park Hospital acute services.
The team is committed to interagency working and co-operation with social services and the local Education Department
We welcome applications from experienced community paediatricians as well as paediatricians with a recent CCT. There is opportunity to develop innovative care for children with complex neurodisability.
The team has a strong commitment to training and personal development, so the post holder will be expected to participate in the teaching and training of all professional groups within the Child Health Service.
Currently the team contributes to the hospital paediatric Grand rounds and epilepsy meetings, the neurodisability meetings at GOSH and the quarterly joint teaching with Ealing, Hillingdon, Milton Keynes and Brent community paediatrics.

You will always be part of a dynamic and experienced Community Paediatric Team of Paediatricians with an excellent skill mix who provide a full range of community paediatric services. The team currently comprises 4 Consultants and 4 Paediatric Specialist Registrars working in Community Paediatrics.

You will have opportunities to work across the full range of community child health work load including:
· To participate in the diagnosis and management of children with a range of neurodevelopmental difficulties including ASD and ADHD
· To provide assessment and case management of children and young people with complex neuro-disability and special needs. The Consultant has overall responsibility for their own caseload.
· Share multidisciplinary team assessments and meetings as required.
· Provide clinical input to multi-disciplinary clinics/meetings for the assessment of children with complex disability and special needs.
· Participate in the Child Protection rota in conjunction with other consultants.
· Participate in providing medical input for SEN.
· Provide clinical supervision to paediatric registrars.
· To contribute to the training of GP trainee rotations and FYI from Northwick Park who come for weekly placements.
· Teaching and training within the multidisciplinary service.
· Active involvement in multidisciplinary team meetings and service clinical governance activity.
· Active participation in continuing medical education.
Job plans can be configured according to applicant experience and interest within the scope of the clinical requirements within the service.
Other responsibilities
· Shared responsibility, with other Consultants, for the organisation and smooth running of the Department, and for developing processes and policies for improving standards of care.
· Take an active interest in annual appraisal and job planning.

- Up to date with Level 3+ Safeguarding and Child Protection competences within last 3 years
- Ability to supervise trainees for Child Protection Medical Assessments
- Good understanding of health inequalities and the impact of social determinants on children, young people and families
