Detailed job description and main responsibilities
This post will help to develop better provision and capacity for Forensic Healthcare Services and provide inpatient consultant / RC responsibilities to 10 female patients on medium secure female only ward at the Hellingly Centre, East Sussex. The consultant would be part of a dynamic inpatient consultant body at the Hellingly Centre and of the wider consultant group within the FHS.
Other duties include:
- To act as an Approved/Responsible Clinician for patient's subject to the MHA. Manage a case-load of 10 inpatients and carry out assessments as required.
- Participate in the weekly referrals meeting and undertake assessments for suitability for admission to MSU
- Liaise with statutory and non-statutory agencies to assist in the management of mentally disordered offenders.
- Offer training to professionals.
- Participate in the on-call rota.
- Develop a clinical leadership role within the MDT team and across the service and work with colleagues and management to ensure optimal service delivery.
- Participate in business planning for the locality and, as appropriate, contribute to the broader strategic and planning work of the Trust.
- Lead the improvement of quality of care within the team and system.
- To provide assessments of prisoners thought to require hospital admission.
- There is an opportunity to prepare Court reports, if the consultant would be inclined to undertake such work. A time-shift work pattern is applicable on such work.
