Job overview
The Critical Care Outreach Team at NHNN, affiliated with the Patient Emergency Response and Resuscitation Team (PERRT) within the wider UCLH Trust, is a multi-disciplinary team of experienced critical care practitioners that assist in the care of patients who are acutely unwell or who are deteriorating.
This is achieved by supporting, educating and working with ward staff and the multidisciplinary team; optimising the quality and appropriateness of critically ill patients' treatment, care and experience.
The team also provides a trust-wide resuscitation service providing a clinical response to cardiac arrest calls and deteriorating patients, contributing to the delivery of specialised resuscitation training and risk management to a variety of acute and specialist hospitals sites in the centre of London.
Advert
In conjunction with the band 7s and 8a in NHNN CCOT (and PERRT), the Deputy Charge Nurse / Sister will assist in the development of the NHNN CCOT (and PERRT) service and patient safety by:
• Provision of an expert critical care nursing response to deteriorating and at-risk patients.
• Supporting patients who step down from Critical Care to the wards.
• Support of initiatives to improve recognition and response to deteriorating and at-risk patients.
• Assistance in the delivery of training programmes in emergency response and resuscitation practices to clinical staff of all grades and specialities.
• Responding as a clinical member of the emergency response / resuscitation teams and whilst attending clinical emergency calls across the Trust, providing expertise to the cardiac arrest team to ensure evidenced based practice is provided.
• Ensuring all clinical areas have access to resuscitation equipment (appropriate to area) and consumables across the Trust.
