Job overview
As a Mortuary Orderly you will work closely with the lead of Mortuary services and APT’s to ensure safe, effective and efficient services are met. You will be part of a team in keeping all areas of the mortuary, including the post mortem room clean and tidy including deep cleaning/sterilisation of instruments, equipment, patient fridges and freezer and to keep all stocks and supplies replenished. You will work within local induction training competency and mandatory training frameworks to ensure confidential, safe, compliant and secure services.

The Mortuary Orderly will participate in the domestic duties, maintaining cleaning standards in the department, spot cleaning and monitoring. Deep cleaning and disinfecting of areas within the mortuary to maintain infection control. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism whilst working with service users and have the ability to learn & use trust systems specific to the department.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Good general education including Maths & English
- Good written and spoken English
- Ability to undertake required training in post
Desirable criteria
- Mortuary experience
- English & Maths GCSE or equivalent
- Hygiene certificate
Experience

- Previous experience of working within a healthcare environment
- Previous experience in working under direction
- Previous cleaning / housekeeping experience
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of working within a mortuary
- Experience of working in the area of bereaved

- Good communication and interpersonal skills
