Job overview
Are you a senior phycology professional looking for your next role? Or are you looking to take a step up into a senior/supervisory role?
We are seeking a friendly, compassionate, flexible, and creative HCPC registered senior psychologist to join our team as a fully integrated member of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) in adult acute inpatient wards.
You will be split across two acute wards (male and female), each with a full-time assistant psychologist, and offers opportunities to provide placements to trainees.
You will have a co-created job plan that is varied and flexible, with a supportive and visible consultant psychologist on site, and allocated time to pursue special interests or develop skills in line with the service. This position is crucial in ensuring patients receive high-quality psychological treatments within adult inpatient wards, and you will be a valued member of the team.
Our fast-growing service encourages innovation, with exciting plans for involvement in research trials, and offers excellent CPD and training opportunities to support career progression.

- Psychological assessments and time limited psychological interventions within an inpatient setting.
- Opportunities to work with a wide range of presentations on a 1:1 and with families.

- Doctoral level training in Clinical or Counselling Psychology
- HCPC registration
Desirable criteria
- Pre-qualification training and qualifications or experience in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology.
- Qualifications / training in clinical supervision
- Eligible for BABCP accreditation
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including inpatient, outpatient, community, and day services settings.
- Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and threat of physical abuse.
- Experience of supervising others.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of running / co-running groups.
- Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts.
- Experience of working with people with severe and/or complex mental health difficulties.
- Experience of working in the NHS.
