Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Clinical Physiologist to join our friendly Neurophysiology team as Specialised Clinical Physiologist. The department is in the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle. This permanent position would be well suited to an individual who is looking to advance their career in Neurophysiology and gain experience in a wide range of diagnostic investigations.
You should be a qualified Clinical Physiologist in Neurophysiology with experience at an Associate Clinical Physiologist level as a minimum. You must hold or be in the process of obtaining AHCS or HCPC registration.

As a Specialised Clinical Physiologist you will be involved in an extensive range of clinical investigations including:
- EEGs – routine, sleep, and portable recordings on patients of all ages with a wide variety of medical conditions.
- Multi-modality evoked potentials
- Nerve conduction studies
- Ambulatory EEG
- Video-telemetry EEG both in-patient and home video-telemetry
- Intracranial video-telemetry EEG
- PSG and MSLT
- Intra-operative monitoring.
Full training will be given for more complex investigations.
The department is actively involved in student training at STP and apprenticeship levels and you would be expected to be part of this.
An on-call rota operates at weekend and bank holidays between the hours of 9am-5pm.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Performs a range of complex and highly complex diagnostic neurophysiological investigations on patients of all ages from a range of specialities suffering from a wide variety of medical disorders including those, which may be neurological, psychiatric and/or learning difficult in nature.
- This may be in the dedicated environment of the department or in a non-dedicated environment i.e. wards and Intensive Therapy Unit in the Trust or other hospitals in the region.
