Band 7 - AHP COMMUNITY CLINICAL SKILLS EDUCATOR

The Community Clinical Educator (AHP) plays a vital role in developing and supporting Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) across various disciplines, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, podiatry, speech and language therapy, dietetics, and more, through the Bromley Healthcare Academy. This role focuses on delivering high-quality clinical skills training, facilitating practice-based learning, and providing pastoral support to students and staff.
The postholder will lead the design, delivery, and evaluation of Moving and Handling training, ensuring it is evidence-based, innovative, and compliant with best practices and legislation. They will collaborate with service leads to embed safe manual handling techniques and promote a culture of safety.
The educator will work closely with clinical leads, academic partners, and service managers to develop, deliver, and evaluate educational programmes tailored to AHPs at various career stages. They will support preceptorship, student placements, and professional development, ensuring learners receive clinical and professional guidance.
Additionally, the postholder will act as a role model, demonstrating best practice in clinical skills. By embedding innovative teaching methods like simulation and digital learning, they will help develop a skilled and sustainable AHP workforce at Bromley Healthcare.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Educational Programme Development and Delivery

Lead the development of AHPs to meet the organisational strategic priorities, service requirements and individual needs.

Develop learning programmes in response to specific training needs in collaboration with the Quality and Operational leads, other Academy team members and Service Leads.

Develop and facilitate learning programmes using a range of methods, including traditional classroom-based teaching, written guides, online learning, and virtual sessions, as well as VR and AI

Plan and deliver educational programmes within clinical skills, covering the “four pillars” of healthcare practice: Clinical Practice, Education, Leadership, and Research.

Lead and deliver on clinical skills induction for newly qualified nursing and AHP staff transitioning to the community (out of hospital settings).

Plan and facilitate clinical skills courses and other learning activities, such as 1:1 training, classroom-based sessions, and simulation-based training.

Promote innovative methods of education to maximise dissemination of knowledge and enhance the learning experience.

Lead and deliver training programmes that incorporate the development, organisation, quality, and governance of clinical practice learning within Bromley Healthcare.

- Educated to degree level with a relevant professional qualification in an AHP Profession (e.g., Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, HCPC-registered).
