If that sounds like you, an exciting opportunity has arisen within NHS Gloucestershire Talking Therapies.
Our ideal candidate for this role is organised and hard working with good communication and people skills.
As a trainee psychological wellbeing practitioner (PWP), you will learn skills in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) to support people with common mental health problems (such as anxiety and depression).
You will work in our clinical service, whilst undertaking a taught Certificate in Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (LI-CBT) delivered by the University of Exeter. The course will consist of part remote working and part in person attendance at a venue in Bristol (to be confirmed).
Working in our service, you will be in a supportive environment that offers high quality supervision in both individual and group-based settings. We work alongside the University of Exeter to support you in achieving the academic requirements for the course.
Our strong emphasis on workforce wellbeing means you will be working in a team that seeks to create a collaborative and compassionate culture focused on delivering an efficient and effective service for the people of Gloucestershire.
You must be able to commence the PWP training course on Tuesday 9th September 2025 once you have completed our recruitment process, including corporate induction on 1st September 2025.

Your main responsibilities will be:
- learning theoretical knowledge of CBT and applying this in clinical practice
- providing treatment to support people with their mental health
- facilitating psychoeducational courses
- undertaking initial assessments
- providing one to one treatment
- receiving caseload and clinical skills supervision
We predominantly deliver treatment over the telephone and online, with some psychoeducational courses and appointments being offered in person.
You will also work closely with GP’s and professionals in Primary Care settings to improve access and develop resources aimed at promoting mental health and emotional wellbeing.

Our Service provides evidence based psychological interventions using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and other NHS Talking Therapies approved modalities. This means you will be working within NICE guidelines as part of a stepped care model.

You will be required to travel to Bristol and/or Exeter to attend lectures in person. During the 12 month training period the position is office based. The role will include delivering both face to face and remote appointments from one of four bases. Whilst you should be aware that we do consider flexible working patterns, this is dependant on service demands.
