To maintain electrical engineering systems, plant, equipment and associated systems in order to ensure their safe operation, serviceability and compliance with statutory regulations.
To support colleagues and Facilities Managers and to assist in the smooth running of the Maintenance Team and Department.
To carry out the above duties in a customer and patient focussed manner by providing a high quality, professional and responsive service.

On a daily basis carry out multi trades engineering tasks that would predominately be Electrical but would include Mechanical, Plumbing, Drainage and Building skills in any Trust premises and be exposed to occupational hazards pertaining from these elements.
Carrying out Installation, Maintenance, Servicing and Repairs to a full range of specialist Healthcare and healthcare premises equipment
Provide a technical diagnostic and fault finding service on plant and equipment and instruct Maintenance Workers and Contractors in dealing with technical problems
On a daily basis autonomously prioritise workload, taking into account all legal maintenance requirements, Relevant Health Technical Memorandums (HTM), Health and Safety issues, service level agreements and site-specific requirements.
Continually monitor and evaluate condition of building, plant and equipment report either verbally or in the form of a written report any concerns to Estates Management

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
On a daily basis carry out multi trades engineering tasks that would predominately be Electrical.
Carrying out Installation, Maintenance, Servicing and Repairs to a full range of specialist Healthcare and healthcare premises equipment.
Provide a technical diagnostic and fault finding service on plant and equipment and instruct Maintenance Workers and Contractors in dealing with technical problems
Ensure that all works are carried out within a set timescale, and with the minimal disruption to the relevant site or department, this will include daily alterations to the working pattern to meet changing service demands.
The Estates Department within Medway Maritime Hospital is looking to appoint a Multi skilled ‘Maintenance Technician’ having an Electrical bias.
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, flexible and, enthusiastic individual who can work on their own initiative or as part of a committed team.
You will be required to carry out planned preventative maintenance, inspections, testing, repairs and commissioning on a wide range of engineering plant, equipment and services in accordance with Trust and Statutory procedures.
You will also be required to undertake minor improvement and installation work across the Trust as directed.
Applicants need to have had substantial post qualification experience and have served a recognized apprenticeship. Certified to current IEE wiring regulations and the ability to fault find is essential.
Experience working within the health service would be preferable although this is not essential. You must be able to demonstrate cross trade multi-skilling.
These posts are primarily based at the Medway Maritime Hospital but you may be required to work at other Trust premises.
Applicants will have completed a recognized and registered apprenticeship with a minimum of City & Guilds or equivalent qualification.

Essential criteria
- Educated to HNC/BTEC/ONC in electrical and electronic engineering plus relevant professional experience
- 18th edition IEE wiring regulations certificate
- Must have a thorough knowledge of the electricity at work regulations 1989.
- Suitable IT skills
- Evidence of previous Health & Safety Training, such as “Management of Asbestos in buildings”.
- Specialist training such as that required to hold the position of ‘Authorised Responsible Person’ under the Department of Health’s Technical Memorandum (HTM).
- Must possess a full driving licence
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Understanding of best practice strategies and methodologies for effective asset management, including PPM
- Working knowledge of budgeting and ordering in relation to procurement and purchasing of services and equipment in an Estates environment
- Must have a working knowledge of: Electrical distribution systems Emergency lighting Stand by generators UPS systems Fire alarm systems Building Management Systems Lift maintenance
- Knowledge of statutory requirements in relation to information management e.g. Data Protection Act, Caldicott principles

- Experience of working within a primary or secondary care environment, including good working knowledge of HTM’s, HBN’s and other DoH guidance
