An existing opportunity has arisen for a part time Band 6 post to work in a Community Muscular Skeletal Prehabilitation (MSK) service. We are looking for an enthusiastic, forward-thinking Occupational Therapist to work as part of a small team.
You will be working in a community setting helping to optimise and prepare patients awaiting MSK type surgeries. Using a prehabilitation approach, the focus is to help patients adopt self-management practices so that they are in the best physical and mental health prior to their surgery.
The post holder will:-
- Carry a clinical caseload and provide support and supervision of junior staff and students.
- Offer support and interventions around; psychological wellbeing, anxiety management, sleep routines, fatigue management,
activities of daily living management, equipment provision, minor adaptations and sign posting to appropriate services. - Prepare patients for their surgery in terms of managing expectations, offering education and promoting independence post-surgery.
- Contribute towards service development, patient experience and data collection for an evolving service.

- To provide a high standard of occupational therapy care to complex and highly complex patients within a specialist area evidencing high level problem solving, reasoning skills and independence of judgement.
- The specialist practitioner is the clinical lead for the Occupational Therapy Service within the area of practice providing highly specialist knowledge within the Trust and externally to therapists and other health care professionals from secondary and primary care.
