Evelina London cares for local children in Lambeth and Southwark and provides specialist services across south east England including cardiac, renal and critical care services. We lead a number of specialist service networks aiming to ensure children are treated locally where possible, but have access to specialist expertise when they need it. Our community services include health visiting, school nursing and support for families of children with long-term conditions.
Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations. Working with our partners in Lambeth and Southwark, we are focusing on new ways of working to improve care for local patients.

This is a non-training post aimed at an experienced SHOs seeking to gain more clinical and practical experience prior to embarking on higher ST training. In this post you will form part of a team of 17 SHOs, including Deanery Trainees, and will have identical timetables and training opportunities.
On a rotating basis the post holder will be based on the cardiology wards, the coronary care unit, led by the cardiology consultant and supported by the Specialist Registrar. On call duties are partial shift compliant with the New Junior Doctor Contract.
Regular consultant-led teaching on specialist cardiology topics are provided every week and there are weekly multidisciplinary meetings, for all subspecialties, that provide excellent training opportunities. The rota is also designed with built in educational opportunities to attend the outpatient clinics and cardiac catheterisation laboratories

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
This is a non-training post aimed at experienced ST1/2 level SHOs. You will join a team of 17 SHOs, including Deanery Trainees, and will have identical timetables and training opportunities. Clinical duties include management of cardiology inpatients in a tertiary centre setting, managing the coronary care unit, participating in the coronary catheterisation labs and cardiology outpatient clinics.
On a rotating basis the post holder will be assigned to subspecialty teams on the cardiology wards & the coronary care unit, led by the Cardiology Consultant and supported by the Specialist Registrar. On call duties are partial shift compliant with the New Junior Doctor Contract and include receiving acute patients via the busy primary PCI service.
Clinical responsibilities include: participation in the daily ward round and completion of ward round duties; prescribing cardiology medication; managing interspecialty referrals; admission clerking of interhospital transfers; assessment of sick & deteriorating patients; and discharge documentation.
Regular consultant-led teaching on specialist cardiology topics are provided every week and there are weekly multidisciplinary meetings, for all subspecialties, that provide excellent training opportunities. The rota is also designed with built in educational opportunities to attend the outpatient clinics and cardiac catheterisation laboratories.
We also have a number of available audit projects, educational roles and leadership opportunities to enhance your CV and provide engagement with the wider cardiology team. All SHOs will have an assigned educational supervisor.
