Job overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Matron/AHP Lead to join our team at the newly established Intermediate Care Ward at Eastbourne site. This ward is designed to support the discharge process for patients who no longer meet the criteria to reside in the hospital acute wards. These patients are waiting to return home with reablement, awaiting a rehab bed or moving to a long-term care facility.

- Leadership and Management: Provide strong leadership and management to the nursing and allied health professional (AHP) teams, ensuring high standards of care and patient safety.
- Patient Care: Oversee the delivery of patient-centred care, ensuring that all patients receive appropriate and timely interventions to facilitate their recovery and discharge.
- Team Development: Support the professional development of staff through mentorship, training, and performance management.
- Quality Improvement: Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and service efficiency.
- Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including GPs, nurses, therapists, and social workers, to ensure a seamless transition of care for patients.
- Resource Management: Efficiently manage resources, including staffing, equipment, and budgets, to ensure the ward operates effectively.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Participation in the Senior Manager on call rota.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse and hold active registration with NMC or Registered AHP and hold active registration with HCPC
- Masters level qualification relevant to role
- Post Graduate qualification relevant to role to demonstrate expert clinical and leadership skills
- Evidence of mandatory and statutory essential training skills, for example, Basic Life Support, manual handling, infection control, fire etc
- Senior Leadership qualification
Desirable criteria
- Mentoring or coaching qualification
- Project management and Quality improvement qualification
- Restorative supervision/Professional Nurse Advocate qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Proven experience working in a senior leadership position.
