Guy’s and St Thomas’ is among the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts. We provide a full range of hospital and community services for people in south London and as well as specialist care for patients from further afield including cancer, renal, orthopaedic, respiratory and cardiovascular services.
Guy’s is home to the largest dental school in Europe and a £160 million Cancer Centre opened in 2016. As part of our commitment to provide care closer to home, in 2017 we also opened a cancer centre and a kidney treatment centre at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup. St Thomas’ has one of the largest critical care units in the UK and one of the busiest emergency departments in London. It is also home to Evelina London Children’s Hospital.
Evelina London cares for local children in Lambeth and Southwark and provides specialist services across south east England including cardiac, renal and critical care services. We lead a number of specialist service networks aiming to ensure children are treated locally where possible, but have access to specialist expertise when they need it. Our community services include health visiting, school nursing and support for families of children with long-term conditions.
Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations. Working with our partners in Lambeth and Southwark, we are focusing on new ways of working to improve care for local patients.
In February 2021 the Royal Brompton and Harefield joined Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, bringing together world-leading expertise in the care and research of heart and lung disease. Our merger provides a once in a generation opportunity to build a lasting, world-renowned heart and lung centre, providing the highest quality care for patients and conducting world-leading research.

Job overview
Are you an experienced Category Manager looking to join an ambitious team in one of the most complex and large NHS Trusts in the UK. We are looking for two clinical category managers who will be responsible for leading a range of key procurement categories in the Women’s and Children’s & Heart, Lung & Critical Care Clinical Groups, ensuring that the Trust and the wider Shared Service Partner Trusts have access to the correct products and services, to deliver world class patient care. As a team member in a newly established position, you will play a key role in developing and implementing the new Procurement and Supply Chain operating model and strategy across Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation and the ‘Smart Together’ Shared Service.

We are looking for a forward-thinking and innovative Category Manager to deliver a large, complex, and demanding procurement program. In this role, you will develop our commercial approach through Category Management and Strategic Sourcing. Collaborating with the senior leadership team, you will foster a positive and high-performing culture by building trust and accountability with all team members.

· Reporting to the Senior Category Manager and being a key part of their team.
· Leading change with innovative procurement practices and ensuring contract compliance to drive out costs and improve patient care.
· Providing specialist, expert procurement advice and support to stakeholders.
· Developing and managing the vital link between stakeholders and procurement.
· Engaging with multi-functional teams at all levels across Guy’s and St Thomas’ and the Shared Service.
· Working closely with stakeholders, including clinicians, service managers, suppliers, professional associations, partner organisations, and system colleagues.
· Leading clinical procurement programs and supporting the implementation of category and sourcing strategies across ap complex procurement project portfolio.

Essential criteria
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience in business, procurement or supply chain.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Highly developed knowledge of Contract Law and EU regulations.
Desirable criteria
- MCIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement& Supply) or equivalent Degree. Leadership qualification. Prince 2 qualification or equivalent experience.
Experience

- Extensive experience in management within the NHS or public sector
- Knowledge of procurement regulations and policies.
- Extensive experience in programme management and delivering large-scale projects.
