Our community services include health visiting, school nursing and support for families of children with long-term conditions.
Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations. Working with our partners in Lambeth and Southwark, we are focusing on new ways of working to improve care for local patients.

Job overview
The Harefield Hospital cardiology team is looking for a Locum Consultant with a specialisation in Interventional Cardiology. The post holder will be expected to provide specialist cardiology services on the Harefield Hospital site, but candidates might be expected to work across all the Guy's and St Thomas' sites included the Royal Brompton.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a first class team in an active and progressive outer London teaching hospital environment.

Your job plan is anticipated to contain 10 Programmed Activities per week to be negotiated between the consultant and his/her clinical director, and may be flexed to accommodate evolving clinical service requirements. An indicative proposed timetable is included in the job description; the workload will be a mix of ward round, cardiac catheterisation lab lists and OP clinics which will comprise of a mix of new and follow-up patients.
Final confirmation of the proposed initial timetable will be completed prior to taking up the post with the successful candidate. Flexibility will remain within the job plan to allow effective coverage of procedural and clinic commitments and the timetable will be variable week on week.
Working for our organisation
Harefield Hospital (HH) is a regional centre for cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery, and an international centre for adult heart and heart-lung transplantation. It is one of a small number of UK cardiac centres assisting in development of implantable mechanical ventricular assist devices in the management of end-stage heart failure. It also provides a primary intervention service for acute coronary syndromes to selected Trusts and the London Ambulance Service, in outer West London and the Home Counties. It has approximately 1,185 staff, 180 beds with 5 operating theatres, and 4 catheter laboratories.
The Trust consists of St Thomas’ Hospital at Waterloo, including the Evelina Children’s Hospital, Royal Brompton Hospital, Harefield Hospital and Guy’s Hospital at London Bridge. Our hospitals have a long and proud history, dating back almost 900 years, and have been at the forefront of medical progress and innovation since they were founded. We continue to build on these traditions and have a reputation for clinical, teaching and research excellence.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To provide clinical services in Cardiology in accordance with clinical and legal requirements and in keeping with the international role of the Trust.
To take part in and maintain a 24-hour service for primary angioplasty and acute coronary syndromes at Harefield Hospital. With this post the on-call commitment shall be 1 in 8. At present the acute primary angioplasty work involves about 1100 admissions per year with about 60% being acute heart attacks requiring PCI.
Involvement in the TAVI programme will be encouraged for those interested and with suitable training.
To engage in clinical research in invasive and interventional cardiology at a level in keeping with the 5* research rating of the National Heart & Lung Institute.
To supervise and deliver clinical and technical education in invasive and interventional cardiology and to maintain the international teaching profile of the Trust.
