Guy’s and St Thomas’ is among the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts. We provide a full range of hospital and community services for people in south London and as well as specialist care for patients from further afield including cancer, renal, orthopaedic, respiratory and cardiovascular services.
Guy’s is home to the largest dental school in Europe and a £160 million Cancer Centre opened in 2016. As part of our commitment to provide care closer to home, in 2017 we also opened a cancer centre and a kidney treatment centre at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup. St Thomas’ has one of the largest critical care units in the UK and one of the busiest emergency departments in London. It is also home to Evelina London Children’s Hospital.
Evelina London cares for local children in Lambeth and Southwark and provides specialist services across south east England including cardiac, renal and critical care services. We lead a number of specialist service networks aiming to ensure children are treated locally where possible, but have access to specialist expertise when they need it. Our community services include health visiting, school nursing and support for families of children with long-term conditions.
Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations. Working with our partners in Lambeth and Southwark, we are focusing on new ways of working to improve care for local patients.
In February 2021 the Royal Brompton and Harefield joined Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, bringing together world-leading expertise in the care and research of heart and lung disease. Our merger provides a once in a generation opportunity to build a lasting, world-renowned heart and lung centre, providing the highest quality care for patients and conducting world-leading research.

Job overview
The Central Portfolio Office (CPO) sits at the heart of GSTT’s strategic transformation agenda, shaping and managing the portfolio of change projects and programmes to deliver the Trust’s strategy – ‘Better, faster, fairer healthcare for all’. The Trust has an ambitious capital programme with significant investments in digital technology, medical equipment and estates; as well as a wider transformation agenda to transform public healthcare in the UK.
Your role will provide business partner support to one or more of the Trust’s Clinical Groups, working with clinical and operational leaders to shape and deliver on their change portfolios. To be effective in the role you will already have experience of working on complex change programmes and have a successful track record of delivery. Major Programmes: The Trust has a number of large strategic programmes that are formally designated as Major Programmes and report to a dedicated board committee. The post holder will be expected to support the Major Programme teams working in their partner clinical groups.
Portfolio Management: This role will support Portfolio Management in the Trust’s clinical groups. The post holder will work Clinical Group leadership teams to shape and manage the Clinical Group’s change portfolio.
Benefits Management: The post holder will support their partner clinical groups with all aspects of benefits management and realisation, actively supporting the creation of high quality business cases in the early stages of the project lifecycle, and then providing support and constructive challenge on benefits realisation once projects have delivered.
CPO Team: The post-holder will be expected to play an active role working across the cross functional CPO team, directly line managing more junior staff and providing peer support to all other CPO team members.

- Relevant Masters, equivalent professional qualification or equivalent experience.
- Formal qualification in Project or Programme management (PRINCE 2 or MSP) or equivalent
