Job overview

This newly created role means you have the opportunity to shape, influence and build how and where you want it to impact. Reporting directly to the Deputy Chief People Officer, you will be working in collaboration with our senior leadership teams to design and implement strategic organisational development and inclusion initiatives which drive a compassionate and inclusive culture together with strategic ownership of comprehensive leadership development programmes.
It goes without saying you will have autonomy to drive organisational development and inclusion transformation strategically and skilfully, achieved by influencing decision making and increasing organisational and individual awareness of exceptional OD and inclusion practice, through the introduction, development and maintenance of leading-edge interventions.

Advert
With extensive experience working at senior management level in a health, social care, or similar large complex organisations, you will provide effective leadership within the OD & Inclusion team, ensuring individual contributions are maximised, and development needs are met, creating a truly integrated OD & inclusion service.
With a successful record in service improvement & change, delivered across a complex organisation, you will make a significant contribution to the overall success of the Trust, setting & implementing strategic objectives as part of the MFT People Plan and other key Trust Strategies.
With significant experience of providing advice on OD and inclusion matters, in a large, complex, multi-professional organisation, you will lead the development and maintenance of MFT-wide OD & inclusion policies.
With a thorough understanding and practical experience of delivering large scale OD and inclusion engagement initiatives, you will work with other colleagues to influence how the OD and inclusion experience shapes organisational direction, strategy and focus, using the MFT People Plan as an enabler for change.
With considerable experience of developing and applying OD & inclusion strategies, employment law and policies, you will actively engage in national policy development, Greater Manchester and Northwest Region strategy & change, researching best practice across the NHS, ensuring MFT is innovative in its approach to the OD and inclusion profession.

Qualifications – Academic / Professional
Essential criteria
- High level of general education to degree level or equivalent.
- Educated to Master’s level or holder of relevant professional qualification in Organisational Development, Change, Social Psychology or similar field.
- Chartered Member of the Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) or demonstrable equivalent experience.
- Track record of continuous personal and professional development.
Strategic Leadership
Essential criteria
- Significant experience working at a senior level within a similarly complex organisation.
- A high-level understanding of the national NHS agenda and the contribution of equality at both a strategic and operational level.
- In-depth knowledge of a number of disciplines such as EDI, OD, Strategy and leadership. Able to facilitate change in a way that inspires and engages the organisation.
- Successful track record in a senior OD role operating in a complex environment/sector.
- Significant track record of building leadership capability, team development, facilitation, and OD skills. Proven track record of leading the development of compassionate and inclusive cultures from team to organisation level;
- Able to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of corporate and business issues with a strong emphasis on quality.
- Track record in the successful management & leadership of a HR/OD function.
- A proven ability to deliver consistently to best practice standards of OD.
- Able to work across professional and organisational boundaries and in partnership with a wide range of key stakeholders to deliver high quality outcomes.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive experience in equality and diversity issues with demonstrable experience of developing and implementing equality and diversity initiatives
- A strong track record of managing competing demands and delivering successful OD programmes in a tight financial climate.
- Substantial experience of leading a high performing workforce or organisational development function which has enabled business transformation.
- Extensive in-depth demonstrable success in delivering change and performance with and through management teams, by engaging them in the strategic direction and delivery plans, establishing clear work priorities with them, delegating effectively, ensuring a capability to deliver, monitoring performance and giving feedback
- Extensive experience of working at senior management level to manage team(s) and to influence strategy, policy and project development and implementation
- Knowledge of legal compliance for risk management, including a full understanding of the Health Act, Health and Safety, and equality legislation and the ability to advise on its implementation through strategic development, policy development, governance, risk assurance
