Are you interested in providing evidence based treatment with individuals with common mental health problems? Are you looking for a new challenge and to undertake Post Graduate Training?
The opportunity has arisen for us to recruit two enthusiastic and committed Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (Trainee PWPs) to join our expanding North Yorkshire NHS Talking Therapies Service (previously known as IAPT prior to the national rebranding).
You must have the Right to Work in the UK in order to be successfully appointed to this role. Please note, this role does not meet the required eligibility criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa and therefore the Trust is unable to offer sponsorship for this particular role.

In this role, you will provide Low Intensity interventions whilst undertaking the PG Certificate in Low Intensity Interventions delivered by Sheffield University which commences in October 2025. This training post will equip you to provide Step 2 Guided Self Help Low Intensity Interventions to clients with a range of common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression in primary care, for which CBT interventions are demonstrated to be clinically effective.
North Yorkshire NHS Talking Therapies service is well known for its innovative approaches to working with perinatal women, Vulnerable Veterans, older adults and our commitment to staff wellbeing. We currently have champion work currently occupied by our Step 2 workforce. The service also has a strong commitment to in house and external CPD and places high importance on clinical and caseload management supervision to support you in developing your career.

Upon completion of the course, there is potential to being promoted to a qualified Psychological Wellbeing position on a permanent contract (subject to successful completion of the course, a vacant post being available and any relevant factors at the time).
Both trainee and qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners play a critical role in helping shape the future direction of the service by delivering high quality evidence based interventions. The role is a deliberately varied one which has a balance between undertaking initial assessments and holding a clinical caseload. All PWP’s are involved in delivering Guided Self Help, Psycho-education Courses and Computerised programmes. You will receive regular caseload supervision and trainee specific clinical skills supervision groups.

In return, you will be expected to be flexible and provide clinics as required by service need and demonstrate a willingness to travel. North Yorkshire NHS Talking Therapies service currently operates Monday- Friday covering some evening working through 1:1 clinics or groups. We offer a blended approach including remote and face to face working. University learning will take place at Sheffield University via in person teaching.
Interview Process:
Candidates that are successful at the service interview on either 18th or 19th August does not guarantee a place on the course, and the candidate must be successful at the University interview.
University Requirements:
You must be available to attend University Interview on 28th August online with Sheffield University.
Candidates will be expected to complete some self directed study outside of their working hours in order to pass the course.
Candidates who are enrolled on another course which overlaps with the PWP training will not be permitted onto the PWP training due to University guidance.
Candidates who have ever been enrolled on a funded PWP course and failed previous will not be permitted to continue with the interview stage due to University Guidance.
