Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is situated on the west coast of Lancashire, with services covering the local authority areas of Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre. The Trust is part of the Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care System (ICS) supporting a population of around 1.6 million people.
We have three main hospitals providing acute services to around 330,000 local residents. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the dynamic team on the new Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC), located within the Emergency Village. This is a purpose-built area set up to prevent unnecessary admissions and relieve the pressures of our busy Emergency Department. We are looking for an enthusiastic and positive role model to help provide a high standard of care on our busy SDEC unit.
You will be responsible for seeing and treating medical, surgical, gynaecology, urology, ophthalmology and ENT same day patients. Our aim will be to diagnose, treat and discharge our patients’ home on the same day with appropriate follow ups as required.
As a clinical Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting in the triage process where you would complete basic observations, risk assessments, full body maps, obtaining samples, IV Cannulation and blood sampling, transfer of patients and 12 Lead ECG recording. You will provide care and support for patients who are attending the unit.
You will need to be prepared to work flexibly to the needs of the service.

Currently the charges are - Basic DBS check £25.50, Standard DBS check £25.50 and Enhanced DBS check £53.50.
You are encouraged where possible, to register for the DBS update service. This is an annual registration fee of £16. By registering for the update service you will not have the additional cost of repeated disclosures.
Should you withdraw your application, you may be required to reimburse the cost of the DBS check.
DBS checks remain free of charge for volunteer positions.
