Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is situated on the west coast of Lancashire, with services covering the local authority areas of Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our friendly team in Pharmacy stores, working within our goods receipt, distribution and delivery service areas
Pharmacy stores receive over 2000 medicines deliveries every month and supply stock medication to every ward and clinic at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
You must be willing to work as part of multiple teams in Pharmacy Stores
You must have a good level of fitness as this job requires moving and handling of bulky and heavy items.

You will undertake the secure and timely receipt, storage and distribution of medicines within the Trust. You will be responsible for the duties of receiving, unpacking, checking and entering onto the pharmacy computer system and any UK medicines verification database available, all medicines purchased by the Trust. You will also undertake the specialist lifting and secure delivery of medicinal bulk fluids, medicines and controlled drugs to wards and clinic areas. You will also work as part of the distribution team, ensuring all wards have adequate stock of medicines to treat patients.
You will also be required to work weekend shifts and late shifts on a rotational basis
Previous experience is preferred but not essential but you must have experience in lifting and handling of inanimate objects. A good level of fitness is required for this role as it involves frequent walking and standing.

The Pharmacy Department employs over 150 staff covering a wide range of activities throughout the Trust and working over a varied selection of job roles. We are a large but friendly department and thrive on helping each other to ensure we give the best service we can to our patients.
Pharmacy Stores is the engine room of the department and we ensure all medicines are purchased, received and supplied correctly and in a timely manner, to treat our patients. We are a small friendly team who work together behind the scenes, to enable all patients receive the medication they need.
Pharmacy provides bespoke training packages for all jobs and strongly believe in "grow our own" ethos.

Currently the charges are - Basic DBS check £25.50, Standard DBS check £25.50 and Enhanced DBS check £53.50.
You are encouraged where possible, to register for the DBS update service. This is an annual registration fee of £16. By registering for the update service you will not have the additional cost of repeated disclosures.
Should you withdraw your application, you may be required to reimburse the cost of the DBS check.
DBS checks remain free of charge for volunteer positions.
